Finally dealt with this dead white pine.

Leaning uphill but had to go downhill.
Real nasty slope, no access from above to push , no good way to winch downhill.

Center was completely rotten so no way to jack it.
Spent some quality time with a half dozen wedges!

Pile is looking good. Doesn't look like you have much of a problem with pine weevil where you are ??? How about blister rust ?? We have both here and pine does not fair well.

I have seen no sign of either. With 50 acres of woodland that’s mostly pine, I’m thankful for that.

Weevil very common here. Open growing trees especially vulnerable like fields. Tighter forested areas less so.

Last July on a quiet sunny day we had a power failure when a couple of trees decided it was time to fall. They broke the hot wire on top and came to rest on the ground wire which held. The power crew cut the trees in random short lengths and left them on the side of the road. I finally went out to pick them up today. I needed them out of the way for fall mowing.

The ratty Hop-Hornbeam or locally Ironwood is in the right side of the trailer the rest is Red Maple.

Since I had to move it, I thought that I might as well bring it home - 1/2 mile down the road - and run it through the wood stove.

You get those up in IN, too? I see them very occasionally here in recent years, but they're not very common this far north.
