This is a 1904 Horse drawn Nott 1000 gpm Steamer, in working order but waiting on boiler certificate.

The hope is they both return to the show next year and pump side by side.

Evening all;
The day here started out nice but warmed up fast from mid 60's to mid 80's by noon and now we have a front blowing through and it has dropped to 66F. Some areas have gotten some rain showers but none here and we could use it. This spring and early summer was soggy wet, but once the faucet was turned off it's been bone dry, all the corn is curling up tight.
I guess I have officially become grumpy old man now. Between COPD, my heart, knees and hips and weight. I have lost my ability to do much, can't even walk over a 100 feet without looking for a bench to sit for a couple of minutes. Haven't been to a single truck or tractor show this year. Only been to one tractor pull decided that had to change so in light of the cartoon with the various wheels of time;

a scooter to get around with......................................and a carrier with a ramp for the pickup

carrier 1.jpg

The County Fair starts next week, damned if I missing it again. Only got to see about a quarter of it last year. Drive to the cow barns and make a loop of the barn, then drive to the next and repeat.
Not real happy with the carrier, my pickup isn't that tall but the ramp doesn't reach the ground and the tailgate is unusable as it hits. So a 4" drop receiver extension is on order, hopefully that fixs some of the problems with it. Plus I ordered a bunch of new Button head bolts washers and nyloks to replace the too short fasteners, and get rid of the hex heads that may get those tires.

Lou, my Dad added an electric cylinder to a similar carrier to lower it to load my moms scooter. Makes the angle less treacherous. Tailgate use remains an issue tho.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low was a frosty -2.0C and it's presently 9.9C, clear & calm.

Church was very good yesterday, followed by lunch with my guests at the "Pub in the Paddock" in Pyengana. (Yummy Seafood chowder for me)

I'm off to the Vietnam Veteran's Day Parade/Ceremony in about a half hour. Later on this evening [1730] we're travelling to Bicheno to do a 'penguin tour'... there's a fairy penguin rookery there.

That's about it, take care all.

So I had to order my son a new tennis racket. His old one finally broke. It was his sister's prior to him using it. We got it at the big garage sale by TxDon years ago. My daughter let a friend use it and he hit it on the net. It cracked 1 side of the hoop. It finally cracked the whole thing. He was used to it because it was relatively light....

I did not know there were so many parameters of a tennis racket's construction. Maybe around 12 or more. After a lot of surfing, I bought him a Babolat on sale. I wasn't going to spend the farm because I still consider him to be a beginner.

We just went to practice and he had to use a heavy racket, and he said he liked it a lot. We'll know more how he plays in his games tomorrow.

If he wants a heavier racket, I'll have to send the one back and order a different racket.

Church was really good.

Lunch at Whataburger.

I am having trouble filling my GM SUV. The pump clicks off after .2 of a gallon, and have to trickle it in. Very time consuming. The evap vapor system is a bit complicated with the solenoid breather valve, the charcoal canister and the valve up by the engine. I climbed underneath and pulled the hose off the valve because it is notorious for breathing in dust and sticking. Not sure if I did any good yet. Will have to see. Next will be replacing the solenoid valve and the charcoal canister.

Tired from the weekend. Need some ibuprofen...

Nice pics y'all, Ken, Ron, ArlyA, Drew and all.

Prayers for our team, peace in Ukraine and Israel.

good morning all
much cooler morning; in fact ten day forecast is surprisingly cool for end of August
have a routine dentist appt this morning, hope it turns out to be only a cleaning.

Lou, glad you got improved mobility and very interested to see how that scooter works out for you.
I still have a MRI to get this week to confirm it but xray says I have bone spurs in my hip ball and socket, so walking
is starting to hurt. I'm either headed for a large back operation likely, or I have to simply put up with it.
That scooter looks very nice.

I went through this scooter research with my late wife when she got very sick, but was determined to get around, despite
legs full of edema. We found pulling a small trailer with my first golf cart in it worked best for us.
I could never solve the ramp issue on what you have installed, so very interested to see if loading is first of all safe and second
not too hard. Traction?

looks like I have some tomatoes to chop up today.
might take a few up to Popgadgets as I need to return a spark plug to him
