Old AMCO 14' disk. Best I can tell it's 50+ years old. And in a lot worse shape than I thought. Most of the bearings are bad (there are 14). And the back axle was broken.

I am going to get the back gang fixed first, because it was in the worst condition with the broken axle. I paid the guy $500 for it. He was asking $1500, but when I saw how bad it was, I offered $500 and he accepted.

I found the bearings online for about $70 each. The AMCO dealer had them for $240 each. The axle and some of the spools are only available from a dealer, so those are ordered. I'll be at about $1600 in parts to get the back gang going. The other 3 gangs will only need bearings (I hope).

It also needs one new spindle for the left tire. I'm hoping to get it going for about $3000 or less.

The other problem is I don't have a tractor big enough to pull it.

You could flip the centers if you wanted to.
Nice looking machine even if it's green. hope it works well for you.
Yes, there are 16 different width positions, so no problem to change it.

Canopy for what? Sched 80 will soften in direct sunlight
Maybe so.. did just fine today. Put together with stainless steel machine bolts vs glued. If it eventually fails I’ll get a metal frame made. Easy enough to remake.

If that doesn’t get everyone riled up I drilled through the rops to bolt the back.

I never liked the tires set that wide. Too afraid of snagging an old splintered fencepost or barb wire.
On the road, you’re at risk with cars or rocky embankments.
Also puts more stress on wheel bearings

I plan to narrow them up. They were just set really wide from the lease use for road side mowing. What I find a bit odd is that the wheels were set to full width, presumably for better stability of hill sides, yet there is no ballast, either liquid or wheel weights.

Previous owner probably wanted ballast only on one side (if it had a roadside mower). I was probably part of the mower set-up.

I do kind of wonder why they gave up on it though
