Medical Cost

It's a game. They overcharge everybody to make up for the ones where insurance says no.

That's one reason why if you go in without insurance, the prices are lower.
Yeah but who can afford to be without medical insurance?

Tricky question because those not paying will have taxpayer funded insurance here.

Just don't tell them. Rather like if you have a car accident. Sometimes it's cheaper to pay out of pocket than file a claim.
Nowadays most providers are in medical networks and they already have your insurance information. They just ask you to verify when you check in.

People wonder why insurance is so costly...it's because the procedures are so costly.

Obamacare addressed access to healthcare, without addressing the cost of healthcare. Costs have gone parabolic since 2010.
Also, not everyone pays. Those that do pick up the tab for those that don't.

My daughter's 1 week stay in the trama center and two surgeries were just over $100,000. Insurance picked it up. Blue cross is suing the guy who hit them to get their money back. He had the lowest tier insurance, so good luck with that.

His insurance isn't all they will pursue. They will go after assets and garnish wages to recoup their losses.

For some, they have no legal assets or employment, so companies can still reach a dead-end. And yes, we all pay.

I've never had that happen. They cannot file without your consent.

Also, go to a doctor/facility that isn't in your insurer's network.

What I really dislike at most health care places I go to, whether the Dr office or for lab work; you sign on the pad after they tell you what it's for. You have to take their word for it as you don't get a copy.
The other choice is to decline treatment.

Each state has a minimum coverage requirement to be able to sell that product. States have a reciprocity agreement to not punish people if that state has different thresholds.

All your insurance is doing is subrogation recoveries for the stated medical amount on his policy. He will not pay a dime. This happens all the time.

Doctors' offices now sell patient data to medical data brokers. Doctors offices have found a new source of revenue. Those forms you sign, well...you sign your rights away.

I know because I purchased an AI platform that allows us to get medical information on anyone for rate setting functions. It's deidentified data in the output, but it's scary just how much data there are on people these days.
