I recently bought a racing style can at Atwoods and it works really well. I think it was a knockoff of the VP Racing and was only $28. It had a vent. Probably only a matter of time until I lose the threaded cap though.

I've got 8 of those, U jug or Utility Jug brand. Buy them at Runnings when on sale for $19.99.
I have the white translucent ones for diesel and/or gas because you can see how much is in them.
Handy when filling them. Don't need the VP or Sunoco stickers for the extra $8 thanks. Never used a 'safety' fuel can, never gonna.

I've also bought the yellow push in vent caps for some 5 gallon buckets, usually hyd oil empties, they work well also.

I bought a gas pump for less than $14 at harbor freight and find that is the easiest way to transfer gas to a gas tank.

Just put the big end into the 5 gallon gas can and the hose in the gas tank and push the button. You can watch the gas level rise and stop the gas flow by pushing the button again. I use it for gas and diesel fuel. Requires 2 C cell batteries but lasts a long time. With this, you don't have to lift 40 lbs can and pour gas.

With the current administration, I don't think they would be making things harder. We will see, but I am certain the end result will be to get rid of the crappy designs we have now.

These are good, if you can't grab a used 5 gallon DEF nozzle left by the trash.

Problem is you still need a vent.

I've used this on more than a couple of cans.

Immediately when seeing these "vents", I thought- how do you insert it from inside the can? how do you hold the inside when tightening the retaining nut?

The companies, sadly, are unlikely to make any significant changes. The rules will change again in 3 years and they will be left holding the cans.

The only way this gets fixed is for Congress to pass a law restoring common sense.

Tractors are too few in number and geographically spread out to a degree that emissions requirements do nothing...except increase cost and frustration.

absolutely. I’ve purchased two sets of eight nozzles for my old style gas cans, and they all absolutely suck. The flange at the bottom of the nozzle IS actually too small! It destroys the rubber gasket and then it leaks. There AREN'T ANY on Amazon that are proper size. (they are all 1.5 inches. I think they absolutely have to be at least 1.75 inches) I think the only way to replace a damaged nozzle on the gas can is to buy a complete new gas can. That absolutely sucks!

I've not seen one of those "push-in vents" that come with the new nozzles that didn't leak. And half the time the threads on the replacement nozzle don't match my gas cans.
