Ford Recalling Super Duty Pickups, Issues 'Do Not Drive' Warning for Brakes That Can Suddenly Fail

And Ford didn’t recall them. They have to fail before they will replace them.
Ram recalled them and replaced them.

I thought Ford had a mileage limit on the engine / CP 4 warranty, and if the truck makes it past it , Good Luck to the owner.? Or is that exactly what Ford is doing?

ps. speaking of a brake recall, we parked in a store lot yesterday and guess what was laying on the ground a single disc brake pad, no material left at all, just almost grooved through steel and worn ears.

I think it literally fell out of the caliper.

I hope this CP 8 news is wrong about it being an improved CP 4. I also Hope Cummins says NO if it is an inferior pump.

2027 is going to be a big year for Ram with the 7.2L coming out in front of
the Super ZF-8.

Ram has really went downhill lately then. JD Power now rates them 26th in 2025...ouch!

Don't care one way or the other. Although if you put a gun to my head and told me to pick between kia, stellantis, chevy or Ford, I would buy certain specific Fords over any Kia krap or Stellantis sheet. If I'm buying a car for my kids it would be Honda, toyota, or mazda in that order.

The early CP 4 equipped diesel Fords are likely ticking time bombs after 120K miles. They can destroy even the cam and injection pump gears depending on how severe the failure is. 10-15K is not out of the question to repair at a dealership if not under some kind of extended warranty.

Nope not a fan of the CP4 injection pump. Inferior design to the CP3.

Agreed, but there are CP4 fuel protection kits that takes away the risk to the engine.

This applies only to you folks who live in the "salted roads" part of the country. Here in Nevada, nothing rots. I routinely find old abandoned vehicles out in the desert and there is no rot, only faded paint.

I was going to say that… never seen a rusted frame in the SF Bay Area and I’ve been around the auto business a long time…

Most wrecking yards here have rust free cars…
