I see that you are cleaning up between pine trees. Have you ever considered baling the pine straw in these areas? Pine straw can be big business, but you have to have the right situation to be able to harvest it.

I looked into it years ago but never pursued it. I have a close friend who is a logger and owns several hundred acres of pine trees, and he was willing to work with me.

I'm pretty sure that's what this customer is going to do here.

Well between hay baling and cows I had let a job that needed doing for a lady set on the back burner , but she hasn't been in a hurry, so after hauling yearlings to the market and getting 91 rolls of hay baled I jumped on her project today. I strictly used the forestry mower today but will go back Thursday with the mulching head for a little more clean up. Hope everyone has a good week, God bless. Charlie.

Back to finish up removing some more trees for one of my customers, these were large enough that I used the mulching head, once I finished that it was on to some property line clearing a trail for the owner to access the property, had to work around a few fallen trees/logs that owner will remove later with their tractor and grapple, found a surprise bundle of old fence wire hidden in the bushes/vines. Hope everyone has a great Friday. God bless. Charlie.

Charlie your lack of rocks has me extremely jealous! Constantly worrying about destroying equipment, blades and $25ea cutters kinda takes the joy out of it around here.
What a beautiful job not to mention the satisfaction you must have every minute "working". 👍
Thanks for the pictures.

When I work in some areas West of me they have flint rock but probably nothing like what you have to deal with, now cinder blocks seem to be a dime a dozen on many of the jobsites I find myself on, but I pretty much obliterate them when I hit them. I envy you being able to get blades for $25 each , a set of 3 blades and new bolts for my mower is $500 , but I can't complain to much as I have only had to replace them 1 time in 3 years , they are made out of AR 400 steel. Glad you enjoy the pictures and there is some satisfaction of seeing the customers face when they first see the transformation of their property.

Ah, my disc mulcher takes 42 of these! 😐 and had to buy 100 pc to get that price!
Rocks are definitely heavy on my mind and tend to "dampen" my overall enthu$ia$m.😆

I would like to get a rotary brush cutter for my excavator for the lighter stuff.

But it's still rewarding reclaiming the land.👍

RustyIron, yes rocks and ledge common here in NE with the glacial till are not friendly to mulching heads or other blades when clearing land. Rough cutting and clearing down to 6" for brush then an excavator for stumps, which then brings up more rocks, then a dozer for piling up the debris.

Its' a lot of work and materials to get it decent for even a rough field/area.

Those teeth look just like the ones that are on my drum mulchers, quadco's or quad cutters I believe are what they are called, so far they seem pretty tough on wood and brush, not so much on steel and rock  . If a person doesn't account for maintenance of equipment in this business they will find themselves in the hole, I just did a full hydraulic service on my skid steer 15 gallons of Kubota AW-46, 1 primary hydraulic filter , 1 suction filter and 1 return filter was a little over $500 with a good discount on the filters and fluid from the dealer.
