    424/425 tire chain recommendations

I’m in the hills of Western Massachusetts. We get a decent amount of snow. I haven’t had major traction problems until this past winter when we got 3’ of snow at once, the biggest single storm I’ve seen here. That was too much to plow with a light tractor, so I used a walk behind snow blower...

There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of clearance — is there a particular brand or style people have had good results with? Mostly for snow traction.

    Yanmar Claw Grapple

It’s been fine. I bent a bunch of the tines moving heavy wall stone but thats verging on abuse of the tool and doesn’t really impair the functionality. Works great for moving logs and also holding them while bucking. pro tip: remember to disconnect the hydraulic lines when unpinning the...

    3rd Function on SA324/424

Interesting. The Yanmar kit is a diverter, where you push the button at the top of the stick to change the side to side action from curl to the additional function. I have two attachments that I use it with: the Yanmar grapple like in your picture, and an angling snow plow. I can‘t imagine...

    3rd Function on SA324/424

That seems fair. I bought the kit from my dealer last spring and installed it myself, and while it wasn't complicated it did take a few hours. I happen to have the details handy in case it's helpful for anyone: TVK-YL210P (Third Function Kit) - MSRP $575

If you use the headlights on your SA tractor…

you might want to upgrade the bulbs. I put in some LED “fog light” bulbs (Phillips H8 Ultinon) and the difference is dramatic. Was helpful while plowing snow as it got dark.

    Yanmar Claw Grapple

Well, I got one. Seems nice. The Yanmar third function kit was easy to install and everything fits well.

    Yanmar Claw Grapple

Anyone here tried this grapple and/or the third function kit that goes with it? https://www.yanmartractor.com/products/attachments/digging-lifting-moving/claw-grapple/ It looks good to me on paper. Wondering if there's any reason to look aftermarket instead. My motivating application is...

Any install tips for a block heater on a SA424?

I just ordered the factory part, haven't received it yet. Just looking for any "been there, done that" tips.

SA424 with skid steer quick attach

My tractor (2019 build) has that same diff lock lever/pedal. It has gotten me unstuck more than once so I’m happy to have it, but I’ll confess to more than once pressing on the 4WD selector instead by mistake :( If I was designing this from scratch I’d put the diff lock and brake on separate...

SA424 with skid steer quick attach

My pallet forks are from Earth & Turf Attachments. They are a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Yanmar ones and fit the Yanmar QA system just like the bucket. I haven't used the Yanmar forks so I don't know if there are any functional differences, but the E&T unit has worked well for me...

SA424 with skid steer quick attach

It's not too bad. I switch between bucket and forks regularly on my 424. Lift up whatever's attached, tilt it slightly forward, then for each side pull a cotter pin and pull the big pin out. Then set the attachment on the ground and drive over to the other one and line up the top hooks. If...
