My Backhoe needs and engine rebuild

Agreed, it appears that the p/s has its own smaller reservoir instead of sharing the hyd sump.

What did you buy this week?

Agree, I use one whenever working off walk boards, however I fell from 6ft once and broke my wrist/ribs. Unfortunately, fall protection does work from 6ft!

My Backhoe needs and engine rebuild

I got a chance to look at some diagrams, had a hard time finding the info I was looking for. It appears the power steering pump is located below the alternator on the left side of the engine, which could be leaking into he crankcase. Not sure if it uses the hyd sump for the power steering or it...

What did you buy this week?

Brush/clamshell style. It's a EA 55" wicked, seems to have the best strength to weight ratio. I wanted to be able to use it on both my L3240 and BX2680, I already have a larger 72" long bottom grapple I use for logs, but it's too big for the BX and doesn't do great for smaller bush and...

Grapple that'll work on both my tractors and parts to repair my drone.

    Backhoe Ripper

Way better/faster than digging them out with a bucket! The only thing that would make it better would be a stronger hoe. The 611 is no slouch, but it seems you could always use a little more power when you hit that big root. Which reminds me, I need to check the pressures on it.

My Backhoe needs and engine rebuild

What's the current engine oil level, if high from the extra hydraulic oil it can cause excessive smoking. As far as hyd oil getting into the engine, its most likely from a hyd pump mounted to the engines timing cover. It has been a while since I looked at a 555, but i believe there is at least...

    3 point forklift attachment

I have a triple mast carriage from an old forklift we scrapped at work, even has side shift. Making it a 3pt mount is on my list of things to do. I need it for the height as my actual forklift is only a 2 stage. And I want to use it to set the roof beams on my new shop, need to get off my butt...

    O'Reilly Auto for hydraulic hoses

Discount hydraulic hose will assemble hoses for a relatively small fee, the longer hoses will save you more as it's a flat fee and the price of the house itself is lower.

    BX 2230 3pt hitch

You could undo the arms and pin/tie them up, but the rockershaft still has to move in order for the deck to go down, unless you just limit the 3pt to keep the arms off the ground but allow the deck to set on the height adjuster.

    O'Reilly Auto for hydraulic hoses

I bought a crimper a few years ago, it's paid for itself already with all the custom hoses I've made for my equipment and various projects. Has also gotten me out of a jam more then once when a hose blew on a Saturday evening and needed to finish a job. Saves a lot of money and frustration...

    Howe's Diesel Defender

I prefer Hot Shot Secret everyday treatment, use to use Power Service but switched after seeing results from independent testing. I always heard good things about Howes, but the testing results didn't impress me.

    Box blade

Most likely uses notched shanks with a bar that has the wedges welded to it. Thats how my box blade is. Hard to see in this picture, but might give you an idea.

Thoughts on cost of big roll-up barn doors

Menards has the best pricing I've found on larger garage doors. I recently bought 2 14x14 and 1 12x12 all insulated, for my new shop. At least your in their territory, I have to drive 4hrs away to get to one.
