When I see any mention of purchasing filters on this list, it is always about purchasing them from the dealer. I don't have a local dealer. Are aftermarket filters available for Branson/TYM? I assume that they are, but have I've never read about them on this list.

I think you've nailed it. Both have pros/cons. What is best depends on the application. As others have posted, the best plan is to have one of each! 👍
