John Deere 670 with weak hydraulics

Changed oil & filter. Sump screen was pretty clean, probably not the problem. Oil was much darker-colored than new, but not milky at all. Too soon to tell if improvement, but seems doubtful. Have heard of adjusting pump pressure, but owner's manual says nothing about it. BTW, no...

So just wanted to have the correct material on hand to fab a new one, as people say you can do.

People talk about it maybe being crushed - somehow.

John Deere 670 with weak hydraulics

I realized I better have a filter-replacement plan in place before I drain the system. I don't see this stuff at Ace. But @rScotty does this look like the right stuff ...

    Yeah, that wasn't so hard :-). Looks like it's $130+ though ...

Seems odd that it's that fine of a mesh and yet not fluid-tight.

Where did you find a new screen ? I cannot find it in the parts diagrams. Although I'm told you can fabricate your own from stainless 200-mesh hardware cloth.

Ours has that too. And of course I'll change it too.

It's specific to the 670 AND the 770. Mine looks exactly like the lower photo (in the image I attached) - the 3-bolt cover with the drain plug in the middle of it. I hope I'm not wasting my money changing the hydraulic fluid - guess I'll see how the screen looks. The tractor is actually...

What's this about pipe threads ? This all my manual has about the screen ...

Anybody have a clue what a clutch R&R would cost on this tractor ?

I downloaded a couple of good documents. I guess we don't have a file repository here though.

John Deere 670 with weak hydraulics

That's super-helpful to know the tranny oil and hydraulic is all one system, thanks. So, how do you get the metal screen out ?!? Looks like lots of crap has to be removed. Except, looks like there's a cover at the far end of the suction line connection (so on the right-hand side of the...

There's a another sliding lever to the right of the seat that raises and lowers the rear 3-point hitch.

I actually located a 1000-page service manual ! Too big to attach here, even the section on hydraulics. One question though: they keep talking about the SCV (selective control valve). My tractor has a lever that you can move in four different directions, to raise and lower the bucket, and...
