    Removing a hydraulic joystick knob

I need to replace a cracked boot on my FEL joystick but cannot for the life of me see how to remove the joystick knob without destroying it. It's not threaded on and I do not see a set screw. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oil & Fuel  JD 2240 injector pump leak.

I'm pulling some basic maintenance and clean up on my dad's 2240. It cranks easily, runs great, and pulls like a champ. However, the injector pump has a leak around the throttle control stem on the top of the pump. My question is, how difficult is that to repair? I'm a fair mechanic but not...

Loader  NH Electric over Hydraulic 3rd function valve

New Holland has an OEM 3rd function kit they push for their TN series tractors. I'm trying to find a copy of the installation instructions so I can see how it is plumbed. Does anyone on the list know where I might find that on line? their kit is *way* expensive, but I believe it's basically a...

    UTV spray rig

I use a 25 gal spot sprayer in they back of my UTV a quite a bit. The only thing I have not figured out is a good way to manage the 15+ feet of hose between the pump and the wand. It tends to hang over the side of the bed and drag. Any ideas for hose management?

Oil & Fuel  TN65 oil light coming on

Had a strange problem crop up while doing some box blade work this last weekend. When I started up, the oil light came on and almost immediately went out, just like it should when the oil pressure builds up. About a half an hour into the work the oil light came back on and stayed on. No...

    Chipper  PGF Chippers

In searching for forums, I've found quite a few threads on the Jinma Chippers. I've been seriously considering buying a PTO chipper but was looking at the PGF chipper from Northern Tool. It's quite a bit more expensive than the Jinma, listing right at $5K but it also looks a lot heavier...

    Starband is a winner!

After years of dial-up, we finally bit the bullet and had the local satellite provider hook us up with a Starband internet connection. We were originally going with WildBlue, but they've apparently maxed out their one bird and have put new customers on hold (at least in our area) until sometime...

    Harbor Freight Flux Core welders

OK, My MIL gave me a cash gift for my birthday and it's about to burn a hole in my pocket. :D I'm considering buying one of those Chicago Electric (or what ever they are called) 115V flux core wire welders from Harbor Freight. I already have a Lincoln stick welder for big stuff and was...

Flail Mower  New (to me at least) Alamo flail

I finally got around to posting some pics of my "new" mower. I think I got a pretty good deal on it eventhough I've had to replace a couple of minor parts. I've added a new PTO guard and rock guard on the back, replaced the skid shoes, and replaced a couple of bolts. Left Side Right Side...

Flail Mower  Used Alamo flail mower

I have the opportunity to by a used, 72" Alamo flail mower. I haven't inspected it yet, but I'm told it is about 6 years old, has been kept under a shed, is well maintained (i.e. all the bearings are OK) and had the blades replaced last season with heavy duty knives. A local municipality used...

    Decisions, decisions...

This year my yard has finally reached the point of being too big for the old Cub Cadet, but too much of an obstacle course for the TN65 and a finish mower. Next summer I hope to be mowing with something else. I've narrowed my choices to either a TZ22AD or a TC23DA. I've driven the TZ at my...

    Sticky FEL control

The joystick control for my FEL valves has gotten a bit sticky. By "sticky" I mean that it doesn't pop back to center easily. I'm a little leary of applying too much lube to the control cable links or under the dust boot of the joystick for fear of it picking up dust and dirt. Have any of...

    Flux wire welder

Has anyone ever used one of those flux wire welders for light welding? I have a stick welder and have used MIG welders with great success, but I'm unfamiliar with the flux wire models. Can they produce a bead as clean as a MIG on light work? I was wondering if it would be worth getting one...

Trying to locate a water tank

I'm trying to find one of those large, square, metal caged water tanks. I believe they come in 250 and 330 gal sizes; either size would be fine. Last year someone had an ad in the local classifieds with a couple of those to sell. They weren't expensive, only $40 or $50 but I passed on it and...
