1957 Ford Powermaster 861 Free to a good home. Actually, a disreputable home would be OK too. It just needs a home.

The tractor found a good new home today with a guy who clearly enjoys working with the 800 series. Thanks @Paystar for the idea of joining the FB group. That got results within an hour.

@Paystar's FB idea paid off, and I've got three interested people. I'll post again when I know how those work out.

It's time for me to downsize. I've got a 1957 Ford Powermaster 861 in rough shape, but with a running engine. Sheet metal has been removed to work on the engine, but it's all there. Last time I checked, the clutch was siezed, but I've had the pedal clamped down for a few months, so it may be OK...

Several good responses to this, but I'll add a little detail... volts times amps = watts, so the 12V, 800CCA battery can briefly supply 9.6 kW. No telling how long it can do that though, unless they tell you the Ah rating as well. If your battery (lithium, or any other chemistry) is rated for...

I completely agree with the notion that private jets and other forms of conspicuous consumption don't set a good example. I'll push back a bit on the use of the phrase "campaign vehicle". It's not that simple. Our current sitting president was well known for using public transportation to...

I'm chuckling that on a tractor forum we're discussing the difference between electrical power & energy, being careful to get our units right, talking about how wind resistance increases with the cube of the speed, and generally geeking out. Thanks for breaking all of the stereotypes in a...

Here's what ERCOT has to say: At 5AM, the load in TX is about 2/3 of the load at 5PM. That 33% headroom will charge a lot of cars in off-peak hours right now with no change in capacity. Even though it's still hot when the sun goes down, as soon as the sun isn't beating down on your house, the AC...

Let's stop guys. At this point, we're all just embarrassing ourselves publicly. To the extent that I caused this by openly laughing at people who try to make their trucks sound/look more manly (or feminine) I apologize. I should have stopped the moment it stopped being about equipment and...

ROTFL. Honestly, those guys don't even annoy me- They're pure entertainment. Monty python's lumberjack song starts playing in my head when I see them.

Yeah, I think we jumped the shark sometime yesterday morning... Sorry about that! I keep telling myself not to visit the political threads and just comment on the discussions about maintaining our ICE equipment well, but then the temptation to inject a few thoughts born of (gasp!) actual...

Honestly dude, I've got no problem with diesel trucks. Yes, I openly laugh at people who spend money to make their truck louder than it has to be or "tunes" it to roll coal. Yes, I'm insulting those people openly. Not sorry. Get over it. Can't believe I'm having to defend myself for that...

That's completely fine. I'll quickly go back and delete the posts where I told you that you don't have a legitimate need for your truck or tractor... Hmmm... Where are those posts? If you look back over this thread, you'll notice that: 1) I didn't start this thread. 2) I've never told anyone...

Regarding #4, Nobody is stupid enough to claim that EVs don't pollute. They simply pollute much less, are cheaper to operate, and more fun. There's no reason to let demands for perfect keep us from better. I'd be interested in your sources for the following: Like you, not trying to pick a...

Free panels would be wonderful, but alas... The cost of the solar array is the basis for the $0.02/mile fuel cost. To arrive at that value, I spread the up-front cost over the 30 year warranty period for the system, including inverters, then divided by the energy they'll provide over that...
