Manuals- Service, owners, etc (If you need diagrams)

I was looking for switched power for the hydraulic diverter valve installation on my Mahindra 1538. I saw this post (and related ones) and took a look at the wiring behind the dash. I wanted a larger wire so that I wouldn't run the risk of overloading that circuit. Probably didn't need to as the...

    Call before you dig

Not really a locate/digging story, but will put it out here anyway. Years ago we lived in a subdivision where all the electric was underground. One nite a drunk clobbered the transformer that serviced our house. The utility got things all fixed up by about 3 am. But over the next several months...

    Call before you dig

Back when I was in charge of taking care of our subdivision roads, we had several projects that required locates. This is in rural Colorado. I knew our excavator well and to save his time and our money, I was the one who called in the locates. First couple of years was no problem. I would spec...

    Lower Radiator Hose Block Heater

Here is another data point. My Mahindra 1538 has a fitting inline to the lower radiator hose. It has two ports, one for a heater for the coolant and I'm thinking the other port is for the heater in the cab version. Seems like the factory thought that a heater in the lower rad hose was a good...

    1538 Cold Start Issues

Your 2555 may not have the same lower hose setup as the 1500 series tractors. The lower hose on the 1500 series tractors has an inline fitting. I'm guessing it is primarily there for the cab tractors (heater supply or return), but is there for the non cab tractors also. There is a 3/4" NPT port...

    1538 Cold Start Issues

Yes, I've tried that a couple times. Sometimes still won't start. I think the intake heater can't stay ahead of the cold air being sucked in until the combustion chambers warm up enough. Block heater will probably get the job done. Will have to wait for warmer weather to install it. Hope I can...

    1538 Cold Start Issues

I hear ya. I have a battery tender on it. Kinda wish I would have gotten one with a cab. But having a cab would have caused issues with how I've used the tractor in the past. Best I can do is long johns, insulated coveralls, electric gloves and socks. Does get damn cold in the seat.

    1538 Cold Start Issues

I've had this 1538 HST for several years. When temps get below +15F this thing is hard to start. Last winter I looked into things a bit. Found out the 1538 has an intake heater, not glow plugs. Verified that the intake heater does work. I was kind of surprised that glow plugs were not used. My...

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

Thanks Brian I went down to the tractor to take a look at how the hoses are routed. Deja vu cause I had to figure this all out when I did the remote and the brain cells that were supposed to hold that info have since died. Appears I will have to splice in an extension to get the Supply up to...

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

Hey Brian, thanks for the reply and good to hear from you again. I have not as yet connected the return lines with a tee. Was kind of unsure whether or not something would get backfed. So what I've been doing is connecting the tractor supply lines to the remote when I want to use the top/tilt...

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

Back again After a big snow this last spring, I bought a snow/dirt blade to mount up to the SSQA on the front of the tractor. It has a cylinder to change the angle of the blade. Since I never plan on having the top/tilt hardware on while running the front blade, I use one of the top/tilt line...

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

I fab'd the bracket from Home Depot steel and welded them together with a Harbor Freight MIG welder. I thought I might have a nice arm rest, but things get way too hot once hydraulic fluid has been running through the system for a while. Will probably come up with some sort of pad.

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

I started off by determining where I wanted the control levers to be, then worked things backwards. For these pictures, the BH is mounted so I did not include pictures of the supply hoses being connected to the valve. Also, I don't know about your 1533, but on my 1538 the hydraulics bleed down...

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

Took me a while to find the valve you had selected on Summit's website, P40G-3K16. Yes, those two items would get you started for a 3 valve setup with float on all three. Picture threw me off also as what they put there is for a solenoid valve. I see that the power beyond adapter is once again...

1538 with BH - what is needed for a 3 pt top and tilt

Back when I was chatting with Brian at Fit Rite Hydraulics, his lead time was longer than 6 months. So I sourced the parts to build a system myself. As you had mentioned, you do have a BH on your 1533, so your three hoses back there are Pressure, Return and Power Beyond to run your BH. When...
