Rotary hand pump works incredibly well. Cheap, works without electricity, and moves a lot of fuel, oil, etc. pretty quickly. Just need a hose on the end.

I don't know how common this is, but it happened to me as well on my 2008 JD2305. Like you, removing and cleaning the solenoid resolved the issue pretty easily.
