    Electricity usage

The answers are all over the place. And why not, we all live in different places and individual power bills are being posted. To post a power bill from your place is meaningless. I was hoping people would share ways to reduce the bill and live better.

I apologize. I like @ultrarunner but I stirred the pot in a mean way.

[emoji637] ton Ram-single vs dual wheel?

Tire replacement $ and rotation is a factor too. My 1T 1996 two valve dually flatbed had 19.5s. There seemed to be no limit to how much that pickup was loaded to carry/pull. Oh wait, its automatic transmission.... Yup, that cursed transmission was the limitation through out the time I owned it...

    DPF

Sure depends on the tractor, doesn't it? If your tractor has a clutch and geared xmission or is a powershift it doesn't work so good.

    Electricity Price Increases

This will be an interesting back and forth. I would bet I'll end up on both sides. I like some technology things. I just don't like fees and subscriptions which, BTW, those costs are getting way out of tolerance.

    Stuck, really stuck

Don't you have a friend with a drag line?

    DPF

It really does depend on the (diesel) engine and the application. How many diesel rigs at a truck stop (higher) idle for the night with no problem? On my old Kubota I'm inclined to let it idle for a bit vs frequent use of the battery and starter, esp considering its 'dynamo' generator to keep...

    Electricity Price Increases

Disclosure: I couldn't be further from 'protections' of anything. We don't do too much for 'security'. But we did have a cougar kill a pig yesterday. And have in the past - bear kills too. If I could get a bead on the cougar I'd have a pelt I couldn't show. We could call the Sheriff's office and...

All one can REALLY do is take the situation into their own hands. If not you are in the hands of others you have no one to blame but yourself. That is the easiest way out: Blame someone else. We need a law! When will you quit blaming others?

How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

My random thought of the day: "What else can I worry about today that I have no leverage to control except to post to a forum?" Seriously though, through my life, there have been many things I have pondered and which I have little to control and I can try to change things(?) - those are to...

Just can't get a good basic truck, like the old days!

I don't think anyone has been successful at duplicating the FJ40 / FJ45 Landcruiser. I love seeing those - they just don't die. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Land_Cruiser_(J40)

Just can't get a good basic truck, like the old days!

The biggest problem with my 5 year old F350 is the 'mode' selector on the column shift makes zero difference between 'Normal' and 'Eco' with the 10 speed. But I sure feel better seeing that little green leaf illuminate on the dash. I'm doing my part to save the planet!

R14 tires any good in the snow on hilly driveway?

Both my tractors (B7100 and JD 410j) have R4s AND chains on them. Year around. the closest to pavement we have is when the clay under the pulverized shale hardens in the summer. The v-block chains last forever so why even take them off?

    Electricity usage

It's interesting how many places are having this same conversation. The subject on rates and ever increasing fees, extra charges and taxes is getting a lot of grumbling. Gee, what will it be like when it gets bad?

    Fixed - Grease zerk replacement.

The bucket on the backhoe of the old B7100 had a zirk that got smudged by rock so the nipple wouldn't seal to the grease gun and the zirk was locked/distorted from the force. I drilled a tap size hole for 1/4-28, deep enough it went into the pin a bit (so what?) and threaded it. New zirk and in...
