    Saws, supplies for firewood cutt'n....

For hand tools, I have two favorites: I tried a friends Log Ox but did not like it. Just too cumbersome. I prefer a dedicated tool for each task, rather than one tool which tries to do several things. I prefer a LogRite peavey for rolling log (also occasionally useful for freeing hung trees)...

Setting slip clutch on Woods BB60.30 brush cutter

Yes, a Woods Brushbull BB 60.30 I was happy with my original one, so figured I’d stay with the same brand. I was considering going to a flail mower, which would be easier to maneuver on some of my trails. I was a bit concerned with that option, since they don’t seem to do as well when mowing...

Anyone have a MechMaxx 3-pt stump grinder?

You're not using a torque wrench to set it? I would assume the 6" wrench is just to get them on and snugged up a bit.

Setting slip clutch on Woods BB60.30 brush cutter

I finally replaced my old Woods BB60 rotary cutter. It had been beaten to death mowing rocky trails over the years and more was broken on it than was worth fixing (or so I thought until I saw the price of a new one). I'm having some issues with the slip clutch. The manual says to loosen the 8...

    2025: Year of the Tick

I know if several people who have had their allergies successfully treated by acupuncture. (I don't know anyone with AGS, however - or at least no one has told me they have it.)

    2025: Year of the Tick

I suspect the dry weather we have been having here in VT has suppressed the tick activity a good bit. Not a lot of people I know have reported issues with them after a wave back in the Spring. The rain we are finally getting now just might bring them out...

John Deere 4720 open station blowing hot air on legs

When I really notice the heat blowing on my right foot on my NH TC33D, it's often a sign the screen in front of my radiator is starting to clog up. I'm not really sure why that is: It would seem I'd be getting less air flow (though maybe hotter?) They temp gauge is still right in the middle of...

Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Yes, they do go on sale occasionally. I've been very happy with the Icon hand tools I've purchased (mostly torque wrenches, a ratchet, and a couple of sets of sockets.)

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

I hear you. With the tractor (modified with limb risers, belly pan, grill guard and falling object protection), logging winch, forestry grapple, Metavic forwarding trailer, dump trailer, multiple chainsaws and probably some other toys tools I'm forgetting. I gave up pretending this was about...

Tractors and wood! Show your pics

Not a chance. For me harvesting and getting them out of the woods without damaging the residual stand is the fun/challenging/interesting part. The further along in the processing of firewood I get, the less I'm interested in it. I really dislike stacking it I need a neighbor like you so I can...

You mentioned a grapple. You can't use that to set the logs in over the side of your trailer? I've used my forestry grapple to load a lot of wood on trailers that way.

Mike - why not start a new thread about it? I'm sure @ning isn't the only one interested. Maybe in the "Rural Living" section?

    2025: Year of the Tick

How dry has it been in your area? They tend to be less active when it’s dry out. We also tend to see them in waves around here. We get a busy time from mid spring to early summer, then the activity seems to taper off, with a resurgence in September.
