Tires look brand new, but are 11 years old. Keep or discard?

Less than 100 miles/year? I would not buy new tires for a vehicle that I drive less than 100 miles/year. Instead of driving for 100 minutes/year at 60 mph, drive 200 minutes/year at 30 mph and don't worry about it. It's saving you less than 2 hours/year to have new tires that can safely run at...

    Ferris scalping

My country clipper did something like that when one of the four hangers fell off.

I've found that you can make more $/hr with honest work. Thieves are typically dumb and lazy.

Zero turn vs. 4X4 tractor for mowing

Depends what is at the bottom of the hill. I mow with a ZTR on hills where the bottom is smooth and grassy. I have slid down a hill in the rough that caused the ZTR to roll over when it hit a rut at the bottom of the hill. I also have a hill with a vinyl fence at the bottom. I removed a...

    Comparison Help me decide...?

My MF1250 front hubs are starting to leak. The o ring is $100, which seems ridiculous to me. The PTO seal was $75 a few years ago. The tractor is functioning fine, but the stupid custom parts are just awful. They could have used a common seal in both cases, instead of a custom seal. I...

    Bush hog

I was told that when I bought it. The dealer was trying to stress that it is for taller rough cut, not for a lawn.

    UTV Suggestions

Maybe not the best for your situation, but we removed the deck from an old country clipper joystick control ZTR for my special needs son. We use the foot well for carrying small stuff and a wagon for bigger stuff. Without the deck, it will tip up going up steep hills, but doesn't tip over...

    Bush hog

The chain was probably attached to the 3 point frame work, so that you can lift the mower. The wheel in the back should really only touch the ground occasionally, though before I bought a finish mower I would regularly run the wheel on the ground to cut the grass extra short. New, the mower...

What can I spray in the woods to control unwanted growth but not harm trees?

I had goats and Katahdin sheep. Now I only have the sheep. They are so much easier to manage than goats and eat about the same thing. They seek out poison ivy, multi-floral rose and mulberry on my property. I keep them in with two strands of electric fence. If they get out, I yell at them...

Anyone else waiting to see if tractors without the EPA stuff are coming?

The EPA doesn't require EGR. The EPA puts requirements on NOx emissions. EGR was the only way we have figured out how to accomplish the it. NOx is produced with Nitrogen and Oxygen in a high pressure, high temperature environment (combustion chamber). EGR reduces the amount of oxygen in the...

They are rolling back 2027 standards. The equipment is still in the design phase.

That would be fine if you kept the exhaust on your property, but you are polluting a shared resource. Electric is the only motor type that I know that doesn't pollute a shared resource when it is run. We don't have batteries (or equivalents like fuel cells) working well enough for tractors.
