My Dad's compact MF 1749 HST can handle 2 round bales front and rear or just one on the front. He runs water ballast in the big 16.9 R1 rear tires. The only downside is the 9.5 front tires looked really loaded with a big bale in the front and nothing on the 3ph. Didn't cause any problems, but...

My father has a 2009 4-wheel drive 2605 with a loader. It's has about 1000 hours on it now and has been a great tractor, no problems or trips to the dealer other than oil changes / maintenance. Only things I don't like about it are no differential lock on back axle or limited slip on the front...
