I am happy to report that the WIX 51456 is a perfect fit for the S-HST filter. Many thanks to PCABE5 for saving me from a huge headache.
I used the same shop vac but not sure it was needed. Very little fluid came out. The filter was full. I strained the fluid and put it back.
You can get...
Thanks. Put it on a little while ago and it's a perfect fit. I made an adapter from clear tubing and my heat gun for my shop vac but I didn't use it because I was concerned it would suck the fluid into the vac. Had the wife hold the 9 gallon shop vac hose over the fill port and it worked like...
Thank you! You saved me a big hassle. The WIX cross reference is 51456

I'd better double check that the WIX 51715 hydro filter will work
Thanks. I'm going to use the WIX 51551 for the HST filter unless you guys talk me out of it. And the WIX 51715 (a/k/a 551715) for the hydraulic filter.
Changing the oil filter was a mess. They really have that thing tucked in there. I used the WIX WL7426 (a/k/a SL7426).
My chain wrench has...
Thanks. Shopping up here requires a minimum 3 hour round trip to Billings. Usually closer to 6 hours hitting Wally World and Costco. Being in AK I'm guessing your shopping trips are even more of a hassle.
Well I crawled under my tractor. The HST filter is quite a bit smaller. But my more pressing problem now is that I cannot get the hydraulic filter to budge. My biggest wrench isn't big enough to get any real leverage.
What do you guys recommend I purchase for removing large hydraulic filters?
Getting ready to change my hydraulic filter and plan to use the shop vac trick. I see in my manual that I also need to change my HST filter. I assume the hydraulics and HST share the same fluid. Do I need to also use the shop vac trick when changing the HST filter?
Also can anyone confirm...
Wanted to update this. As of January my replacement frame still hadn't arrived. Called my dealer multiple times and no return calls. So I paid him a surprise visit and caught him in his office (owner is also the sales guy). Walked out of there with a check for 100% of my purchase price. He...
Thanks. I won't have access to my manual for a couple weeks but I checked a digital manual I have for an XR4100. You are correct just the filter. I wasn't looking forward to draining and disposing of 10 gallons of hydro fluid.
Yes I bought my MT357HC from Yellowstone Tractor last July. Got their first one. Haven't had any issues. Getting ready to do my 50 hour service. I didn't get the backhoe.
Hey guys. What's with the shop vac to prevent hydraulic fluid loss? I though the break-in service called for the hydraulic fluid being changed? Will be doing the 50 hour on my MT357 and it would be great if I didn't have to replace the hydraulic fluid.
I should have asked this question before I greased the front axle. There are 8 zerks on my front axle. When I greased the two that are on the center of the axle the grease expanded the parts. Are there seals in these that I need to be mindful of over-greasing?
Attached is a photo of the...
