His Plug looks like he could lean it out quite a bit. Not sure what this Unlimited Coil means, but I assume no Rev Cutout, so at 14,000+ not sure if Leaner would be better. But a 14,000rpm cut out and leaned out would shave more time off his cuts.

That was the Muffler on the XL12 Nothing "Tuned' about it, just Loud.

The second saw I grew up with, after the Mini Mac, was a Homelite XL12, Straight pipe (well basically just a vented tin box. Your ears thumped, it was Deafening. No wonder I am hard of hearing today. 1/2 cord you were deaf and numb for the rest of the day.

I did this. WPC Tongue & Grove, Batten Under. Found it at Auction for the Cheap. Approx $3.50/8' Board. Goes up quick, once the first run is layed. You could Batten over the Lap or remove and Wrap the Studs.

4 1/2" and 5" are one in the Same Starter, 5" just having a little more torque. If I recall correctly, 5610 and up were 5", down were 4 1/2" until the Shibaura's

Need to Plant that in Clumps, then Spark it up. A little "Controlled Burn" But the "Huggers" would disagree.

Chainsw Carb is way different than a Graxity Fed Carb. No Diaphrams, No Check Flaps, Bo Impulse. Just Brass Jets, Seat, Steel Needle and Plastic Float. The original 1600hr China Carb, doesn't have any Throttle Plate play, just a leaky Needle and Seat. Could reuse all the Jets and Body if needed...

The first Chinese Carb made 1600hrs, I think it will be fine.

Just turned 1647hrs on my 1200/1500w Champion. The 1 Carbon Build up issue, now the Needle and Seat are leaking. New Carb time for $26 on Amazon. My 3750 Champion, doesn't get many hrs now that I am 90% Solar, but it fired right up after winter storage. Use it for Power Tools only.

I recall painting my Bro I Law's 1970 Chevrolet C10 with 8N Ford Red Enamel. Forget the pricing (35 years ago) but working at the Ford New Holland Dealership, we only paid 10% over cost. Automotive Paint went through the roof because of the Environment. Waterborn was a Big Jump in pricing.
