New to TIG, trying to weld aluminum with no success

I did, sort of. I gave up on aluminum since an AC TIG is outside my budget (or needs) right now. Instead I welded up steel brackets and bolted them with stainless steel screws. :-)

Changing Grammer seat to tip-up option

I have an L47 which is a little bit different but I'd bet the sensor is the same. There's a pressure switch mounted to the bottom of the seat. I just wrapped a zip tie around the plunger of the sensor and now PTO always works.

Kubota M62 No Swing force after Hoe Reattachment

Is this a new machine? I have it's baby-brother the L47 and when I first got it the hydraulic quick-detach fittings for the BH were loose and it caused all kinds of weird loss of power problems. Tightening them up with a wrench solved it for me.

New to TIG, trying to weld aluminum with no success

@Mark @ Everlast I looked at your machines last night. I like your Lightning MTS 225, do you take trade-ins? lol.

New to TIG, trying to weld aluminum with no success

@LD1, as a newbie to TIG I didn't realize the differences AC/DC would make at first. When I did I learned about that next and arrived a helium about the same time the responses came in here. I've yet to see anything that really explained the proper applications for each type of tungsten but...

New to TIG, trying to weld aluminum with no success

So I called my local welding supply. They don't have any bottles to sell and even if I did find one somewhere else, it's $100 to fill with helium. This project isn't worth that hassle for what would likely be a poor outcome anyways. An AC TIG is outside my budget right now and while I do have...

New to TIG, trying to weld aluminum with no success

Hi, I'm new to TIG, I can stick and MIG pretty okay. But for this project I need to weld 2" aluminum angle stock. To get started I watched a few weld.com videos and read some stuff and then broke out some old aluminum stock to start running beads. I got this old stock from my Dad so don't know...

    re-usable fittings appropriate?

What you want is https://www.discounthydraulichose.com You can pick your fittings and order it to length down to the inch. Good hoses and crimps from what I've gotten so far. If you can make do with standard lengths, SurplusCenter.com has very affordable pre-made hoses in 12" increments.

How to weld 1"x2" bar to each other?

Hi, I need to learn how to weld 1"x2" bar to each other at a 90d angle. I wrote up a full post on this site's sister-site Welding Site but I am also cross-posting it here because I need to finish this project this week and traffic there is lower since it's still new...

    JD 455G baulky steering

Hi ya'll, I have a 1998 JD 455G crawler loader that has developed an odd steering quirk. The right pedal always works perfectly but the left pedal will sometimes not "clutch" but only drag the brake. I can tell this is happening because the engine will lug down slightly but the machine will...

Grading  [How to] level & break in new field

I have 2.5 acres that I just reclaimed from mostly small trees. I've done a soil test so I know what I need to do amendments-wise but I need to get it leveled first and then cultivated. What I'm not sure of is how best to break up, smooth out, and level the field. It was cleared via the push...
