The Life of a Custom Mowing contractor

How does the baler compress those big square bales? Is it similar to a small square baler? Or something different? Around here I've only seen round balers.

What did you buy this week?

Going from a Laramie to a Tradesman is a pretty big step down, but this one had most of the options I wanted. The thing I will miss most will be the ventilated seats and the cargo camera.

That spreader looks to be in good shape. Why did they want to sell it? When I worked at the fertilizer company, any carts we had were ragged out. Looks like you got a good one. My little spreader sells for about $7000 new and lasts me about 4 or 5 years. I wash it and spray it with Fluid...

What did you buy this week?

2025 Ram 2500 Tradesman with the 6.7L high output. Traded my 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie with the 6.4L hemi. This one was $16,000 off the MSRP. 😟

Most of the time it is the head coach. Sometimes it will be the school board. It sort of depends on who is paying for it. Sometimes it will be the school itself, sometimes the school board, and sometimes the booster club.

That is correct. However, the bermuda grass will creep into the clay area fairly quickly, if not maintained on a regular schedule.

First thing was lip removal. Then we added 2 loads of material to the skinned area. Then laser graded the skinned area.

The one in the foreground is a 2022 Ram 2500 with the 6.4L Hemi. It has 85k miles on it and I am considering trading it in for a Tradesman with the diesel. The one in the background is a 2024 Ram 3500 with the 6.7L High Output Cummins.

Mixing MSMA in a 50gal UTV Boom Sprayer on a Kawasaki Mule to spray @ 3mph

You are correct again. You will get close to the same result using 10 gal per acre or 13 gal. per acre. I would not go less than 10. Some pesticides require more gallons per acre to get better coverage. MSMA is not that critical, and it has a surfactant in it which helps get better coverage...

Mixing MSMA in a 50gal UTV Boom Sprayer on a Kawasaki Mule to spray @ 3mph

I just went read the label again, and it does have a use on cotton fields, and highway right-of-way.

Mixing MSMA in a 50gal UTV Boom Sprayer on a Kawasaki Mule to spray @ 3mph

The way I read that label, it can ONLY be used on 25% of the total area of a golf course, or on a sod farm. I don't see where it says it can be used on lawns, sports fields, pastures, hay fields, industrial sites, or anywhere else. I used it on many sites in the past, but the label changed...

Mixing MSMA in a 50gal UTV Boom Sprayer on a Kawasaki Mule to spray @ 3mph

You have answered your question. Your sprayer puts out 13 gallons per acre and you need 43 oz. of MSMA per acre. So for every acre, or for every 13 gallons, add 43 oz. of MSMA. With MSMA, the gallons of water per acre is not critical. I've used MSMA in the past and 43 oz. is a good rate. Not...

Outside storage for attatchments: How to keep the weeds down?

I made a pad with some heavy clay soil from a pond that was being dug. Then I added landscape fabric on top of the clay, then limestone on top of the fabric. The fabric DOES NOT keep the weeds from growing, but it does keep the limestone from migrating into the soil. I spray with Roundup...
