Rear end weight and lift capacity on gasoline PT1430s

Thanks for all of the issues to consider. In the interim I had the chance to talk with Terry at PT about the new PT1430. The major takeaways from that conversation are 1) the lighter gas engine does impact loader performance, 2)it is okay to add a standard hitch at the back of the machine...

Rear end weight and lift capacity on gasoline PT1430s

I'll see what PT says. I was thinking that unless they changed the wheel motors used on the machine, I could add weight back up to the engine weight difference without issue. Here's a link to a company that already makes what I was thinking of...

Rear end weight and lift capacity on gasoline PT1430s

So, I went ahead and purchased a PT1430 for my do-it-all home/residential machine/mower. This is a new machine with the 37 hp gasoline Kohler Command Pro engine (and green paint). The machine has the same specified lift capacity, lift height, and FEL as my PT1850 (1,200 lbs. to 6 ft.) When I...

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

Turns out the problem was that the PTO solenoid/plunger was bad. It was still making a clicking sound when energized, but apparently the plunger got hung up and wasn't opening. Terry at PT said it is rather unusual for that unit to fail suddenly, but that is what it was. Thanks to everyone...

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

If I've got things straight, these are the two relief valves on the top of the PTO control valve assembly on the right side of the chasis as one faces the front of the machine. I guess the cleaning procedure is just remove them clean them out with something like WD40 and reinstall. Is it okay...

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

That was my next question. That was the only thing left on the Service FAQs for PTO not working. ("Trash in relief valve"). Except for a bad pto pump, but this pto pump hasn't made any noise and isn't leaking. Where is the relief valve in question located, and how would one clean it out?

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

Upper and lower halves of lovejoy coupler both fixed to their respective shafts. Hydraulic mower motor shaft can be rotated by turning the coupling. Mower belt intact and all spindles turning easily simultaneously by moving belt by hand. Rpm drops slightly when pto engaged. 3/4 inch main...

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

Thanks guys. I'm going to be investigating all those issues this afternoon. I'll report back.

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

Thanks. This is with the 7 ft. three spindle Brush mower. I'll check those all those items tomorrow. I thought I saw the mower motor sitting still, but i was really just looking at the coupling. If the finger coupling broke I could have missed the top spinning. Could you clarify what you...

    PT 1430 vs PT 425

Does anyone have direct experience using the 1430 and finish mower for regular mowing of a large residential lot?

    PT 1850 mower stopped suddenly.

Mowing today and the PT1850 mower stopped suddenly. It just spun down and stopped. Blades and hydraulic mower motor turn freely. At first I suspected PTO electric issue, but then noticed slight to moderate engine rpm drop when PTO switch was turned on. No significant new leaks. Any suggestions?

    PT1850 Tilt Seat Issues

I ran a new ground from the ground post on the back of the seat through the seat mount tube to the frame. Everything works fine now.

    PT 1430 vs PT 425

I found this thread recently while pondering the purchase of a second smaller PT machine for home use. (I have a PT1850 which I use at the family homeplace in the mountains.) Just to add to the archived information, Powertrac's sales office told me the 425 is rated for 20 degrees while the...

    PT1850 Tilt Seat Issues

I didn't remove the mercury switches when I removed the seat. I disconnected the black and white wires running through the seat frame tube and labeled which was which. I had the machine back at PT for a main pump rebuild about a year ago and they re-did the seat system with new wiring and...
