    YM186D Compressiontest

427 PSI would not be that bad! Problem is you can find al lot of measurements on the internet of bad values, you never see information about measurements when repaired :) Today I also took the starter apart, cleaned it (it was a mess) and gave it new grease. So the leak and compression test...

    YM186D Compressiontest

Did some tests tonight. First checked the injection timing, it is spot on 21 degree before TDC. I did a new leaktests tonight in cold condition. Got the valvecover removed. All 3 cylinder have a leak of 10%-15% at TDC, the leak is blowby and hearable from the carter at the wide ports where the...

I keep the valve spring tester in mind, thank you. The pressure gauge has an adapter screwed to a pipe (at the green section), I think together it is like 15cm before the valve (at the red section). I don't have photos of the valves/seats.

    YM186D Compressiontest

Compared to my Deutz engine I find the Yanmar valve springs easier to press, but that doesn't tell you anything. During leaktest there's 10% which is hearable at the carter vent. Before the valve lapping I could hear air leak out on the intake and exhaust ports. Leak test is of course at...

    YM186D Compressiontest

That is true for this engine. 426 PSI is the lower limit in the manual. There's 3 considerations: -Manual does not tell you if this is in cold or hot condition. -The tools for pressure measurement enlarges the volume of the combustion chamber a bit, not shure how much this affects it -I have no...

    YM186D Compressiontest

Forgot to mention, valve clearance is set to 0.2 mm as dictated in the manual and is shown on a sticker on the engine.

    YM186D Compressiontest

As long as I know it is a bad starter and it is getting worse every year. The tractor is used daily but short time and has no heavy load, only transport. Thats a good recipe for carbon buildup ;) At the moment Im not sure if the bad start and smoke are two different problems or just the same...

    YM186D Compressiontest

An update: Injectors -Cleaned the injectors -Opening pressure > OK -Not leaking just below opening pressure > OK -Spray pattern > OK Head Took the head of; lots of carbon on the valves and valve seats -Cleaned head and valves -Lapped the valves as best as possible (lots of pitting). -Checked...

    YM186D Compressiontest

Hello, we have a bad starting YM186D (3t72HA). Done a COLD compression test cilinders reach, cil 1: 280PSI , cil 2: 285PSI , cil 3: 300 PSI. First stroke about 100PSI Second stroke about 150 PSI Third stroke about 200 PSI Then it takes another 4-5 strokes to 280-300 PSI Then Cold wet...

    YM186D - massive oil leak

Hello! Today I received this picture from the girls driving the Yanmar 186D : Not good for 2 reasons: Oil leak and also, that is not the right color for oil at all! So... A couple days ago I was told the 4WD axle went loose and fell of: Because of Covid quarantaine I wasn't able to fix...

    Yanmar 186D broken shaft

Only used a .20 and .25 spacer so didn't measure the exact space on the valves, so hard to tell, guess more than twice, but of course not sure. I suspect the loose injector causing compression leaks when cold. I was aware of the injury risk, so I tested the injectors using a cardboard and off...

    Yanmar 186D broken shaft

Today checked the valves, two of them had way more space compared to 0.20 as specified, adjusted them. Also got all the injectors out, very easy, so I guess Im mister lucky here :) One of the bolts was already loose...hmm....not good :( The hardest part was to move the second fuel line out of...

    Yanmar 186D broken shaft

I found the schematics for a 220 in the internet, I guess this is the most close to the wiring on the tractor. Is this correct? : The temp sensor is NO (normally open) and the lamp gets tested during cranking as a result of the relay which is activated as it is connected to the switch which...
