My D5 is very much lacking comfort compared to my D3 but it pushes way more. I can actually finish grade smoother with the 5 and that was the plan for the D3.
I was using a new holland that’s a little bigger than my D3 before I had the D3. I think the D3 is about 9 tons and the new holland was 11 tons so actually a decent amount bigger. The D3 with the regular tracks definitely seems to bite the ground better.
There’s a substantial price difference in hauling a tractor that weighs 3200 pounds and a 977. You can expect to pay at least $300 to get a lowboy to move across the parking lot and $175 an hour beyond that.
You won’t make any money with a 14k trailer. You can’t legally haul for hire. Legally there’s a big difference in hauling something you own vs getting paid to haul it. The same thing is true for renting. I guess you could rent it but the rental yard rents them for like $65. I’d rather let their...
My excavator had a bunch of loose track bolts. We tried tightening them up but they didn’t stay tight. We cut them off and replaced the bolts. Some damage to the holes had been done by that point. I wouldn’t be surprised if they loosen up again.
My 40 is really no comparison at all to a tractor backhoe. It’s vastly more productive. I had to rent a 1 ton baby digger to drive through a small opening once. I think even that machine would compete well against a tractor backhoe. It’s probably not as powerful but it makes up a lot of...
A Deere 26 is more like 3 tons. That size excavator would work circles around the tractor backhoe. And if you decide it’s not for you it could easily be sold off. Selling a tractor backhoe without the tractor isn’t as easy. I have a Kubota 40 which is bigger than those machines but the excavator...
The more surface area exposed to the fire the faster it will burn. Bucking and splitting would make it burn much faster but it’s also the most labor intensive. Cutting it in 3 ft pieces would be a lot less work and still much faster than trying to burn a 60ft log. Have you considered posting the...
If your truck bed is metal and doesn’t have a plastic liner I seriously doubt you would ever have problems. I’m sure someone is going to say that the truck tires isolate it from the ground and they’re not wrong but the same is true for the regular fuel tank. I fill my lawnmower on the trailer...
They’re really made for skid steers. A tractor would be better suited with one of those other tools especially if you had the ability to tilt the 3 point hitch.
