    Most hydraulic hoses are self sealing. Occasionally you will come across one that’s NPT and needs sealer. I’ve had the best luck with the blue thread sealer. The black permatex is good stuff too. The basic white thread sealer isn’t as good IMO.

    Check the fluids and put in a hot battery. Check the air filter for a mouse nest too. Diesel keeps a lot better than gas. It will probably fire up. If you want to be cautious you could make sure the engine spins a full revolution by hand but I probably wouldn’t bother.

    A tank sample seems like the only way. Even if the exhaust search did work it’s not proof of a crime being committed. It’s not illegal to put red fuel in your pickup and drive it on your farm then drain the tank and replace with highway fuel when you go back on the road.

    They can search a commercial vehicle anytime, anyplace and for no reason. There’s no rights at all when it comes to commercial vehicles. It seems like they should need a warrant to search a personal vehicle unless they saw you putting red fuel into it but apparently they don’t.

    It’s pretty anticlimactic because they use a lot of material to cover the explosion. Probably hundreds of tons. They also only fracture the rock. If you used enough explosive to blow a crater like you want to happen to the log jam it would throw shrapnel for miles.
