Wood flooring in carpenter bees

Question: how do you guys prevent carpenter bees from destroying your wood flooring on your trailers?

Prevention. Carpenter bees don't like fresh wood stain.

Coat your boards with your old used engine oil ... Thin with diesel if you want ...

I wiped out my carpenter bee infestation with these traps:

They're available commercially, but it's easy to make your own.

I hung one on the barn and another above the deck where the bees were doing damage. Took 2 seasons, but they're completely gone.

I have tried those traps MANY times over the years and never caught one bee. As for the trailer deck, I spray mine with a mix of diesel and used oil top and bottom.

I didn't catch any either at first. The trick is to place the traps in the sun, protected from the wind and where the bees are active. Once I did that, I was catching 2 or 3 per day.
