My new truck ( Ram 3500 ) is diesel. So - DEF is also in the picture. However - there is SUCH a wide range of prices between different brands. Examples ...... Kleen DEF - $56/ 2.5 gal. Blue DEF - $17/ 2.5 gal. For those of you, in the know. Is this price difference justified?

I don’t think it is. I buy the WalMart brand. Cheap. $9.99/2.5G.
Made in USA.
Never had a problem in 6 years and 73,000 miles.
Just make sure it’s sealed.

I used to run the Walmart brand in my Silvy 2500HD. Now I buy it at the pump since its about 1/2 the price.

IMHO: It's all the same, but it cheap, just make sure it's fresh and the container is well sealed.

My favorite fuel stop owner finally installed DEF pumps, but the dummy made them so you have to walk all the way inside and stand in line to pay, but diesel fuel is tap CC at the pump.
Stupid.

Hey - thanks guys. I've been "tromped on" with the pricing on the new pickup. Don't need this frustration on something like DEF.

I’m next. Accountant and I had a talk and it looks like a 2027 RAM is going to happen.
I hear they are moving to an Industry best 10 YEAR/100K powertrain warranty.

Yes - Hay Dude. My new 2026 Ram 3500 has a 10 year/100,000K powertrain warranty. There is "talk" about future elimination of the DEF requirements. I would guess that is about to happen the same time the Feds eliminate oxygenated gasoline.

Your accountant (wife) will learn to love a new diesel truck. My new Ram is so very quiet - and quick.

My Ram dealer told me never buy DEF at the pump it's not as fresh I just looked at him sideways and told my wife I didn't believe that.

I can somewhat agree with that. It all depends on how much DEF they move.

My wife has no input on my company’s affairs, Thank the Lord. She’s probably ridden in my truck on average once every 2-3 years. I keep it nice & dirty inside so she won’t want to ride in it. ;)
If she did, I’d be driving some relic truck of the past and farming with open station 2WD International 1066’s, getting myself skin cancer and very little done.

I have also used all the different brands of DEF. No issues with any of them. I do buy bulk from the pump at truck stops a lot. I think my tank holds something like 6.5 gal. and it lasts a couple thousand miles or more.

My powertrain warranty is 5 years/ 100,000 miles. The 10 year would be great for those that don't put as many miles on them.

Sad sign of the times. I read a press release saying they did this because so many people are financing vehicles for 8 to 10 years now to afford them. Unreal.

As for DEF, I have a gripe with Air1 brand. Their jugs are garbage. The funnels rarely screw on properly and often are missing the little black rubber breather, so you end up spilling DEF all over.

Hmmm.
I’d say it’s great news.
8-10 year financing? That’s crazy.

Wait a minute, did you switch from your power wagon aka taco wagon? To me that would be my "new truck" even if it's been 3-4 years. 😉

I buy it at Bucees from the pump for like $3 a gallon.
