I have this one with both the 2.5 and 5 amp battery. It's a beast of a little impact and the size really allows you to get in tight spaces. I have been meaning to pickup the DeWalt version and see how they compare.
Do you notice a power difference between the 2 different battery sizes?
I do but the 5AH battery is also much bigger so makes the impact a little less nimble.
I'm Red through and through. The M12 Fuel line is great. I've been using Milwaukee for 10 years and have only had one battery go out. I recently bought the M12 Fuel drill and driver set for use woodworking, and moved my M18 Fuel drill &driver set to my mechanical bench. For me, I'd go M18 for the work you want to do. The M12s actually have a thicker handle than the M18 because the M12 fits into the handle, not hanging below it like the M18.
Have you been using the M12 line for 10 years or the 18 volt? I've had the M12 stuff for roughly 5 years now and I've had at least half a dozen batteries go bad. It's frustrating. I like the tools. They all work great, but the batteries seem to be a weak point. I've taken apart the bad batteries and in each case, it's just one of the 18650 cells that has gone bad.
2AH, 3AH and 6AH. I'm a building contractor, so, to be fair, I put a lot more use on tools and batteries in a year than the average person might in 5 or 10.
I run primarily Dewalt 20 volt line. I have half a dozen or so M12 tools because they make some things that Dewalt doesn't and they're more compact, which can be handy at times.I have been running the M12 for the last 7 years and have yet to have a battery go bad. I prefer Dewalt which is the bulk of my fairly large cordless tool collection but I do like Milwaukee. When I got the stubby impact, they were the only ones making it at the time and the tool truck driver smooth talked me into it.
No. They're all genuine. I bought two counterfeit m12 batteries from Ebay a few years ago. When they arrived it was immediately apparent that they weren't real. Slightly different red plastic color and the logo stickers weren't on square. I contacted the seller and told them the batteries were fake and that I wanted to return them. The seller claimed at first that they were part of a "new run" of batteries, but when I told him that I had contacted Milwaukee and sent them pictures he refunded my money and told me to just keep the batteries. Annoyingly, those fake batteries have held up better than several of the genuine Milwaukees.
