I have a big center bumper that protects both parts and cushions the impact.... 🤣

You see an original Honda Civic and can't imagine how 4 of you got in there.
Or how you got a girl in the back seat.

Skinny and nimble teens will always find a way. I probably got laid more times in the reclined passenger seat of my Camaro than any other place in the 30 years since. :ROFLMAO:

Worked with a couple back in the 80s that had a 70s vintage Civic. Both were huge. Don't know how either one fit in that car, let alone both.
Clearly, Honda figured it out along the way...they're about the only Japanese sedans that I find even remotely comfortable.

I remember looking out a school bus window at a teacher's new Honda Civic after gas prices has skyrocketed. All my buddies wanted a Mustang, Camaro, or a big muscle car. Not me, I wanted a Civic! The closest I got to one was the Hyundai Accent 30 years later.

My ex-wife had a 74 Honda Civic, we were living in the Detroit area and didn't get a lot of snow, but there was snow and ice. I put snow tires on the front and that sucker would climb trees.

One time we were going north on I-275 going up a long grade going over I-96 and the roads were icy. Many cars were stopped and spinning, trying to get up the grade. I stopped in the middle of the grade, then took off up the hill.

After college I moved to CA for a job. I had a Nash Metropolitan that I used for college. I paid $100, drove it for 4 years and sold it for $200 in CA.

It was small but never gave me any trouble.

Just like this, but mine was red.

I still have my '58 Met. Turquoise & white. I keep it original even working vacuum tube radio. I have a set of Whitworth tools and a 77 yo friend is a British car mechanic. It runs great and I've had it 50+ years.
I've always liked small "weird" cars.
Funny story: it has 4.22 gears and tops out at 74 mph.
Many years ago a friend with one convinced a judge of that with pictures, service manual, etc. getting out of a speeding ticket.
It was sold by Rambler as an inexpensive second car, mainly in town use.

Years ago my uncle had two of them - Pennsylvania rust would do them in. One was a convertible. He was a "gentleman farmer" - taught at Cornell University but had a farm in Pennsylvania where he kept a few cows. Loved these old Metropolitans - drove them home every weekend from Ithaca, New York to the Pennsylvania farm. He was the only one I ever knew that was ticketed for driving too slow - in his Metropolitan - and holding up traffic. To him, 35 or 40 mph was top speed and as fast as anyone should ever need to drive so the Metropolitan was perfect for him!

This is my uncle with his Metropolitan and some of his cows.....

Don't feel bad, my 1st car was free, The $50 was to have it towed to my parents house. It had no brakes.

My father briefly had a Metropolitan, which must have been early 1960's. Mom apparently refused to date him until he sold it and replaced it with something less dorky.

Now I do love my mother, but I wish he'd kept the car. :ROFLMAO:

This is the car Dad had that got me so interested in Rambler. A 1964 Tarpon. It was a prototype and I'd pay a LOT to have it now. My Mother hated it but a small car (American platform) with Ramblers 327 mid-block, 4 speed, Holley 4bbl, overdrive, etc it was a cool car for back then. Rambler should have put them into production and the next year came out with the larger Marlin (Classic platform).
