So are you saying you are actually taxed on the number of people who reside under your roof? Something like: for 3 people $100 tax specifically assessed for each individual?

I thought that was what you intended. Which is something I have never heard of.
Good questions, and now you’re making me wonder if I interpreted that line item on our yearly taxes correctly.

We get two local tax bills per year, a big one in September for the school taxes, and a small one in spring for township and per capita. I always assumed “per capita” would be just what it says, a tax on the number of residents in a household, but maybe I’m wrong on that?

The amount is so low that I never even bothered to look twice at it, but now you’ve made me curious. I’ll look into it, and post back here, when I figure it out.

?States that are nice to visit, but then better to go back home?
I've been to all of them except HI and while I'm sure there are nice places to visit in all of them, that is not the most prominent common denominator. A good map might help.

Last night, my student worker called me and said his mom asked if she could buy him and me a ticket to today's game. I told him thank you, but you all don't need to do anything like that. (tickets getting scalped for some big money). He said somewhere around $200/each. That's better than the $383/each cheapest I saw on Wednesday. I told him, seriously, don't spend too much and I'll go, but I will understand if the price is stupid high.

So I got up and left at 8 am to the big game this morning. We lost to a better team. Our QB and O line not as good today. Over 104,000 people.

With so many people, cell phone service gets lousy. I use cricket which piggy backs on ATT, and it was not good for a while. Student worker has ATT and he said his was crap too. I thought I was going to have to hike it back to my building to use Wifi to contact him. Once everyone put their phones away to try and cram into the stadium, service got better. Also better once the game began.

We sat near the top, looking over the goal posts from the endzone. The wind caused missed field goals, but kept the temp really nice. I took off my sweatshirt at the end of the 3rd quarter.

40F and partly cloudy @ 20:30, calling for a low 26F in the overnight. Think it was raining earlier.

Got hopper feeder refilled this morning and scattered some seed for the ground feeders.

Then got a bunch clean up/organizing done out in the garage before I knocked off around 14:00 and hit the rack.

Still have a lot of pots to sort through and put away.

We're not all that far away from time to start thinking about getting pepper seeds started (mid to late January)

Checked while I was out there and discovered I will need to pick up another double-pole breaker for the air compressor to wire it off the subpanel.

While checking Menards for that I noticed that they have ToughRock® "Basement Board" Drywall on sale through the end of the year ... regularly $17.19, on sale for $13.99 ... plus a $2 mail-in rebate ... for a final price of $11.99 per sheet.

Seems like it might be perfect timing ... :giggle:

Think the utility room will need around 20 sheets to finish the 4 exterior sections of wall.

Should be able to take the bracing off the foam board that I put up last night at this point.

Then get that last 21" section for the east wall cut, glued up, braced, and placed.

Beyond that, not really sure what I'll get into ... but there's never a shortage of possibilities ... ;)

Hope eveyone is having a decent evening ... (y)

You could call into the township tax office and get them to explain the bill to you.

   / Good morning!!!! #216,030
good Sunday morning all
slept well, up early, enjoying my coffee
looks like a nice day today in the 40s and sunny.
another entertaining event this afternoon, two neighboring couples
coming at 2pm for Drew's world famous cider, and Christmas munchies.

rarely do the neighbors get together, but these two couples are interestingly the big
gossips on the street. I'm sure will be some fun discussions on our crazy neighbor, who
thankfully has a restraining order over Christmas. I just feel bad for his teenage kids.
Dad is nuts and just got caught trying to buy a firearm, possibly to come after us all.
Hard to imagine that level of insecurity for kids. So I'll talk this up with neighbors and see if
we can do something for the kids.

am waiting for warmer day to go down and take the house batteries out of the rv, bring them home
and put them on a smart charger. Not sure I have arm strength to do that, might need a helper, batteries are
way inside a compartment. I think I need a 10mm wrench for batteries?

91 degrees in Wagtail's Tasmania.
so how warm will it be in Texas on Christmas?

Kyle, wonderful picture

First cup of coffee has been poured. 18° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 26° with partly cloudy skies. Limb cleanup went good. Not as much as I thought there was. Did not get all the gifts delivered yesterday. Have some cleanup to do in cellar then try to deliver rest of the gifts.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

this seems to be the price of civilized behavior, annoying as it may be

Wind is blowing chimes singing

The storm that came tru last week did some major damage to our electrical grid especially in WVa and parts of Virginia

90 mph winds in WVA

Sorry for that Buppies! Hopefully it will work out so she can stay home.

Morning all!
Currently 35 which is the high for the day. Dropping into the teens tonight and staying in the high 20's low 30's for a bit.
Had friends over for coffee yesterday. They brought all kinds of sweets that are now causing my arthritis to go into hyper drive! To much sugar is bad for you!

Neck shots have worn off. Seems like it now hurts worse then ever! I think it's just the fact that it has been going on for so long I was used to it. Having 4 days of no pain was surreal. Oh well, back to the doc next week to see what's next.

Did work in the shop this week. Did not get anything else done. Just don't feel like fixing and cleaning!
No visitors today that we know of. Various colds and bugs going around. Will keep it quiet. Need to go in the shop and put stuff away and putter.
Projects completed this week: (started last week or before)
Ash bowl. Turned, dyed, sculpted and dry brushed with white to highlight the carving.

Will try and finish 2 more before Christmas. Have them close to being done.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

I see the powerball did not go off
1.6+ billion now
my brother is so lusting after a new Corvette ZR1 and
his wife has said absolutely no.
But he knows if he won the lottery, he could have a fleet of them...
and he would not get whined at.
Actually my SIL would want 99 percent to go to charity
so he might get one.
my guess is as long as he lusts only for fast cars,
my brother gets a lot of slack from his wife.
He worked really hard for 40+ years, time for him to play.

today I wonder if the expectation is still to work very hard for 40 years.
it seems today's reality is longer, not shorter.
more like 45 years
or more

Rising Projections: Some analyses suggest that due to high student loan debt and rising housing costs,
the necessary retirement age for new graduates may actually be as high as 75,
which would result in a 52-year career.

I don't think that would fly in parts of Europe.
seems some countries there would rather have their economies truly tank then
work a few years longer. Lot of protests and strikes.

to my core I believe in a balanced budget.
you just can't spend more than you earn.
And I didn't have to learn to be a CFP to figure that out.
has nothing to do with our politics, this happens all over the world.
Too many countries have the equivalent of a gigantic credit card debt.
And then debt equals money equals power equals politics due to who you
owe the money to.

Good Tractor Morning,
Ct, 30 to start going to 40. I guess the real cold isn’t here yet 😉
Can’t read all the posts this morning, I’m starting by cooking bacon for the kiddos and then running to the FD to cook breakfast for the guys delivering popcorn balls and candy canes.
So a short post for now

Have a great Day 🙏

Good morning TBN!!
29 this morning and a high of around 59. Supposed to mid 70s for Christmas.

Yesterday consisted of running errands including HF and RK. Needed some more supplies for my work on the buggy. Got back and did work a little more on the underside.
Took the dog for a long walk and then it was dinner and bed.
Got my new boots that I ordered and slathered them with boot oil. I will wear them a while today and see how well they break in.
Todays plan is to solder the resistors I got in the Magdrill and see how that works. Maybe some work on the buggy.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!
