Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #215,053
Good (Thursday) morning. Overnight Low of 14C and it's presently 29.3C! It's also fairly clear with a gusting wind... which explains the warm temperature as it's out of the NW from the "North Island". 😐

Yesterday's 'into town' venture was good; arvo wood-stacking went well.

Due to the wind & heat, I may give stacking a miss today and simply put up my Christmas tree/in-house decorations. I did put a "Merry Christmas" flag up at the end of the driveway. My neighbour across the road has already set up a FULL DISPLAY of lights/decorations/inflatables... the type that families specifically drive by, turn around (Chuck a U'ie) and go by again. :)

I could do with a haircut, too.

That's about it, take care all.

Thanks Popgadget. Looks like a handy tool. Another cost/worry is the annual programming after a few years.

Good Tractor Morning,
Ct, 27 to start going to 37. Clear skies this morning, after a miserable day yesterday.

Kathleen was out with friends yesterday afternoon and I decided to go to a park for an activation, yes in the rain, 32 F , with some wind blowing to make it even worse. I lasted 30 minutes before my fingers couldn’t accurately operate my key to send code. I was frozen solid when I was done , and had to sit in my truck until my fingers thawed out to drive. I did have 26 QSO’s in 30 minutes, so a good outing other than freezing my fingers 😉

Dennis , nice shot of your son and turkey. He seemed pretty pleased 😉

A couple pics from 😳yesterday’s outing.

Hope all have a blessed day 🙏
Ok Scotty, should we be worried for your new "habit"????

Know of any that can program BMW/MINI CAS-4 or 4+? My KingBolen Ediag can do many, but the only options I'm finding out there for CAS-4 are all 4-figure$ territory.

I have a 2021 Mini that needs a new key fob, and BMW dealerships charge more than $650/each for them. Only other option I've found is to pull CAS module from car and mail it off with your good keyfob, to unknown entities on eBay, who will program a new fob (without mechanical key ).

Trouble then is, now you've given someone you don't know anything about access to your vehicle, should they find some value in selling that.
Now I know another reason not to get a Mini.

I needed a new key and fob for my GM commuter car. I was able to buy the straight blanks on Amazon (they pop out of the fob like a switch blade). Had a friend take a black and white photo of my key's profile which is like a squiggly small river on the blank. He used some cad software to import the photo and make spline geometry. Then I imported that into Mastercam and made a cnc mill program. Used a tiny endmill (maybe 1/16) and cut the keyway. Then, there's a youtube on how to program your fob remote control to your car. The only cost to me was a fob for $20, plus the pack of 10 keyblanks for $15. So I'm out a total of $35. I thought that was high. I used to cut regular car and truck keys for as little as $1 in high school. Still only about $5 if the blank is not weird.

Gave 2 more Torchmate plasma cutter demonstrations today, and 2 more tomorrow. Thinking about cutting me a rocket wood burner that has tabs you can take it apart and the pieces are all flat so it is kind of portable... Just thinking it would be inferior to something I could build out of the square tubing I have here already. Looks like fun to have one and be able to cook over it with a pan.
This is a good company I hear: Collapsible - Flat Pack Rocket Stove | Chiasson Smoke
or a video

Crummy weather pea soup this evening. started out 42f went to 55 and drizzling.

Don, are you driving the new tacoma yet? My daughter's boyfriend bought a new one that has a 4 cylinder turbo. Something like 270+hp, 317 ft/lbs of torque good for zero - 60 in 7.0 seconds. His is a TRD 4WD model. Oh I see they have 5 versions of TRD models. I'm sure it is pricey. Everything is pricey to me. LOL.

Our internet is painfully slow. I have heard there are some nit wits pulling shenanigans on internet, trying to hack everything.

Don't knock it, until you try it! We bought this little thing because it was one of the few post-2020 vehicles still available with manual transmission, and we both believe our teen drivers should each learn to drive manual.

The thing cost less than one-third that of any of my other vehicles, but I have to admit, I can't remember the last time I ever had this much fun in anything so inexpensive. It's only 200 hp, my sedan has 500 hp, but the damn thing weighs half as much and is small enough to park two of them sideways in a regular parking spot. It's a blast! I've fallen in love with the stupid little thing.

My wife actually wanted me to buy the teen a 4-door variant, a bit larger and safer than the little 2-door we got, but we weren't able to find a 4-dr with a manual transmission in the time we had available to look. But I still have feelers out there with a few dealers for a 4-door, with the plan to keep the 2-door as a spare car for my wife and I to drive, if we manage to find a 4-door with manual transmission for the teen to use.

The 2025 models are pretty stupid, though. They are as large as minivans, are no longer available with manual transmission, and have lost all of the features that made them uniquely "MINI". Ours is a 2021 MINI Cooper S, predating the "normalization" of the brand.

We are looking at another possible 4" tonight. Snow squalls they claim.
I've got 5 hours so far on this full tank of fuel. I am tracking the fuel consumption on the Kioti. Keep in mind that I NEVER let the tank go below 1/2 in winter. That goes for the Dodge as well.
