What's a VAC worth?

I'm looking at a VAC for sale but wondering about it.

It's a VAC with the 3pt hitch. I'd say great shape for it's age, I think the paint is original. good tires. Nothing looks wrecked or bent/damaged sheet metal wise. No smoke or leaks to matter much.

So I'm curious what it's worth? Is it worth 2k the fellow is asking?

I did a bit of Google searching and see a range of prices, I see some say they're worth 800, etc. (Maybe what a rough but running one is worth?).

I grew up on an H and a SMD, so I'm not totally in the dark when it comes to the pro's and con's of a tricycle tractor. Knowing nothing much about Case tractors what are the strengths and weaknesses of this VAC? Im thinking it looks more like it's comparable to a C than an H. Any chance a guy could find a PS setup for a VAC in this era?

I have absolutely no reason to buy a VAC other than I find it interesting (I have more modern tractors). I'd maybe use it for some light hay raking or cultivating on small acreage. "Maybe" pulling a square baler sometimes if it's not too light.

My wife worked at verizon of 15 years. She would spout off those stupid acronyms all night long while talking to her friends on the phone. Man, how i hated listening to that.

I get it. I grew up with a VAC, an SC plus others. I had a customer a few years back w/ a VAC that was kept real nice. I'd have no issue with 2K on his. I was scrolling in Craigslist a while back and someone relatively near by had one that was rough but ran for 800$.

So, if its funny money- pay what makes you feel good.
I don't recall issues w/ the Cases when I was a kid. The VAC had a wide front end and was used for pushing snow. I guess every once in while it would sit for long enough it would miss a bit when started and my step dad would squirt some kind of lube on the valves while it was running, put the cover back on and go.

Oh cool. I actually operated one of those back in the late 70’s, never heard it called a VAC though.
