Cylinder Seal Kits for Kubota Backhoe BH75

Well how do you like that! I snagged 2 kits... I can't tell you how much I appreciate you finding these for me. I had no idea that eBay was a place to look for such things... I will see if I can find the others as well.

Your machine is about15 years old, so unless the seals are leaking, why not leave them alone!

I have done 2 FEL cylinders, and 1 stabilizer cylinder on my B21 in 24 years, and have a slow leak on the left swing cylinder (a 3" spot on the floor over a month so not a big deal)

Carl - I guess that I 'assumed' they would all be going soon... Maybe I am reading too much into it but when I replaced the right side Swing cylinder seals on the BH75, the left side Swing started pouring out fluid by the end of the next day... and on my LA463, after I replaced the left boom cylinder seals, the right bucket went out in a couple of days, and then the left bucket followed a few days later... the right boom is still holding up after several weeks, but I am ready with a replacement seal kit for it when/if it finally goes... and on the LA463, the leaks weren't dripping, the fluid was pretty much gushing out under the lightest load...

As I said earlier in the thread, I am a real novice at hydraulic cylinders, so I just assumed my observations were commonplace... I figured that the age of all of the seals is the same, operated and stored in the same (hot Central Texas) conditions, and that the "next weakest" seal set would start leaking after each replacement...

I would be happy to learn that my assumption is in incorrect...

On the other hand, if I am able to run down the seal kits for the other components now (which has not been an easy task, unless I want to pay big $$$ to Kubota), it may be a good idea to have them on hand for any eventual failures... based on my experience with the LA463, it was certainly nice to have the needed seal kits setting in a box in my shop, ready for me...

My experience has been that once 1 starts going, the rest aren't far behind. My backhoe started with boom, then bucket, then 1 stabilizer, now the other one is leaking along with 1 of the swing cylinders.

Same with my loader, 1 bucket cylinder started leaking, other is wet, now 1 boom cylinder is leaking and the other is wet.

I have all the seals sitting here except for the swing cylinders as I have to match them up when I take them apart (also have to replace one rod).

I have to finish the footers for the shop and once the concrete is done I can finally start rebuilding them.

On the BH75, I think the boom cylinder rod size was increased at some point, so might want to look into that if you are just buying kits.

I would really like to avoid paying the Kubota prices... Does anyone have any suggestions for a source?

Apparently BH75 was not a popular model as it is hard to find much for it... BH70 and BH77 kits are not compatible as far as I can see...

I have an old case backhoe. The case dealer said they could no longer get the seals for it. Checked "yesterdays tractors" and was able to get the seals at a good price.

If it says Kubota it is usually Over-engineered . The last Kubota battery I bought la$ted 12 Years. It is probably worth the extra money vs. having to do it every year or so.

Get the highest quality seals available regardless of cost. Do it once and forget it or put cheap deals and refill oil and rebuild rams frequently.

Your experience sounds like what I have seen... yes, I think the boom cylinder varies by serial number, have to keep that in mind...

Yeah, I always check eBay first for individual seals, usually U-cup seals. Then I resort to Hercules for more difficult ones. I have yet to find complete kit at either place.

When I first dealt with rebuilding cylinders on my different tractors, I bought the kits from the dealer. Usually, they were $100 or more for a kit. Then I did all the labor of taking apart the cylinder and putting it back together. Then New Holland decided that I had to buy a new piston for my cylinder because their kit only worked for the new cylinder. That was another $150 for the piston, plus the kit was over $100. Of all the parts in the kit, I only used half a dozen of them and threw away twice that since each kit covered a variety of cylinders.

I quickly learned about East Texas Hydraulic Services Center in Tyler. (903)592-4511 Now I remove the cylinder and bring it there. The total cost is usually right around $100 for labor and parts. Usually, it's less than $10 in parts.

If I was you, I would figure out where everyone takes their cylinders in your area. If Tyler isn't too far to drive, bring it there. They will have it done in less than a week and it will be perfect.

take the seals and Orings you want to replace out without damaging them and take to a Hydraulic shop and they will measure em and sell you the seals & Orings you need. (some) Napa store's with machine shop's repair Hydraulic hoses and stock the seals & Orings too.

Good help and assistance is what I got at HWPartStore .com .I replaced the lift cylinder packing on our 1840 Case skid steer. This was years ago and it's still going strong.

Thanks for the info, Eddie. Tyler is just over 2 hours, and a pretty nice drive... If I run into a snag where I can't get the seals, I will give them a try...
