I’m running 4 tractors with Fendt CVT’s now. Always worried about them, but I have been reassured they are extremely durable.I share the same thoughts as you and why I suggested an hydraulic shop. Fendt most likely want certified shops to do that kind of work.
On the 200HP and less tractors, they can go 15,000 hours with proper basic care.
On the 200HP and up engaged in heavy work, they run about 10,000 hurs with care.
My 655E is the only one I have above 200HP (its 300HP) and it had a reman CVT in it at 9,000 hours, so I should be good until I’m taking a dirt nap.
I was also told since they are a drop-in reman unit, they are rarely rebuilt at dealer. It’s like a $20,000 job for the smaller ones (under 200HP). Bigger ones are closer to $30,000.
The smaller ones are typically cheaper than a full 18 speed powershift.
Cab comes off and it’s done from up top. 1 day of labor with an experienced tech.
