Straight or v plow for a 3/4'ton Duramax

I tried plowing with the tube on the bottom of the cutting edge and found it left a thin layer of ice after plowing.

On gravel or lawns? If the ground would freeze like it used to probably wouldn't need to take such actions to mitigate lawn and gravel driveway damage. Even county plow I trucks I've used had somewhat rounded cutting edges on front and wing plows. granted we could and sometimes would dump over 900 lbs of salt per mile.

Even though I'm putting on a plow some commercial plow contractors might be jealous of that plow. I'm doing my own gravel drive and lawn parking areas maybe a friend's or two driveways also. Definitely not salting. Or getting into a snow removal business.

I'm not a plow expert by any means however found when trying to plow heavy wet slushy snow, a slower truck speed seems to work better at least initially. Final pass id make id drive at more normal speeds to try and throw the slushy mess further back on banks, turning up salter to try and melt the mess on final pass covering drivable area on edge of bank. Anyways for what I will be plowing this winter a pipe on cutting edge is definitely the better way to go in my case.

Will running "shoe's" work at least somewhat. I've never had a Boss plow but most plows that I've seen come with them or at least the weldment that they attach to.

Never had luck with those adjustable shoes they would sink in the soft ground cuz they don't spread the weight around enough once the plow cutting edge gets low enough after the stops sink it digs into the ground. I think it's been brought up a few times but pipes have always worked for me instead of using a stock cutting edge or those round adjustable stops. A pipe is round so even if it does sink a little the roundness helps the plow ride back up on top of soft ground plus it spreads the weight of the plow better across the length of the plow. I never needed bare pavement cutting edges might help give you, to drive safely in the winter anyway.

1) If you can afford it, the only plow for a truck is a v-plow

2) Mushy, 32-34 degree+ plowing will suck no matter what you do. You can literally get out and hand shovel and you will still pull up grass and make a mess. You either let it get cold, or you do the deed and have a bag of grass seed for spring, and a rake/planner with your tractor.

3) Fast/slow whatever. Keep in mind you need momentum, and if the snow is heavy, going slow the first past is gonna leave you stuck with a huge pile you can't move. So blast through, then go slow on clean up.

4)Brakes are cool, snow banks work as well, but if you want the truck to last, use the brakes. Also coming to a stop before switching R/F over and over and over helps the tranny last.

#5/bonus) Get your butt out there now and pick up anything that might be in the way/ on the ground and cause you issues later! Those little things that don't seem like a big deal, turn into one when they freeze to the ground.

I feel you are a non pipe believer. If it didn't work so well like I've experienced I wouldn't waste the time notching and welding pipes to cutting edges. Don't sell many things I use however if I wanted top dollar I'd problaby buy new bolt on cutting edges or burn pipe off with my plasma cutter. .I think it's a sign plow manufacturers sel bolt on turf savers in the form of pipes or rounded channel.

Not really sure what’all it is you are plowing. Seems kinda strange, like you’re plowing a lawn or sumptin.
If it’s a stone driveway, just drop the plow, then give it a slight tap upward. That’ll take the pressure off the cutting edge. If’n the stone gets messed up, you can use a rake to straighten up once the snow melts.

I'm admittedly stubborn and will continue to use pipes over cutting edges, you are somewhat correct bumping plow up however with a pipe I've rarely put a hard hit shock load on plow truck hitting something hard with a pipe on cutting edge even with engaging the trip springs. If it works so well for what I use it for why wouldn't I continue with what what works for me?
