Yesterday after I finished mowing, I was putting the mower back under the lean-to, and out of nowhere the tractor just shut down. Like somebody turned off the key. No warning light, no beep, no engine coughing, nothing.
So my first thought was one of the 238 safety switches went bad, and I'd take 3 days tracking it down. Or...the alternator just blew.
I called my neighbor who is a jack of all trades mechanic, and he suggested I check the ECU wire going to the battery. Because the ECU controls everything. (I thought the ECU ran off the alternator but not the case) Sure enough the extension bracket on the battery, where 4 other connections are made, had broken off from the battery terminal.
Replaced the battery terminal (which took far longer than it should have because it's so damn tight in there. Had to remove some stuff) made the new connections and all is good.
Hope this helps someone that may experience this sort of phenomenon.
