I have a few stumps this size and a bit bigger. I've done completely around them but they do not budge. Any tips how I might be able to get them out? I'm running a CAT 306 which I believe is around 15,000 lb. I want to say that I pulled a stump out bigger than this with roughly the same size excavator before, but I don't remember exactly what I did.

A 306 would pull that right out the hole without any tricks needed.

Get the bucket teeth as far under as you can with the bucket only about 1/2 curled. Now apply downforce and curl simultaneously. Leverage should pop it.

Red oak? They can be tough, I just pulled a 24+" (before flare) red oak out with my 8k lb backhoe, the biggest problem you have there is how low the stump is cut.

Just keep at it, sometimes they have some stout roots going straight down and takes a bit of wiggling. Try using the bucket to pry on the edge of the roots ball.

I try to uproot the tree if I know I'm taking the root ball out, if not I try to leave at least a 4ft tall section for leverage. Not that that helps in this case though.

Thats the stump from above tree after knocking as much dirt off of it as I could.

I think I need to give that more of an effort. Dug completely around it and pretty deep. Just won't budge. Sounds like I just need more persistence
