Today was a good but tiring work day. We have bi annual External Advisory Conferences for our program. Today was one. Over the past few years, I've made friends with most of the "guys". A very diverse group, most of which have graduated from our program in the last 34 years or so... Some are retired and consult, but most are still in industry. 2 of them are former trainees of mine. If you are interested in how things are going in different businesses, they are so interesting to listen to. One guy, told us his company has wells (or helped drill them) drilled in the Gulf of America and that they have estimated reserves of over a trillion cubic feet of natural gas. But the gas is HOT at about 340 degrees fahrenheit and it takes a lot of money to get it to market. He said the pressures average between 10-15K psi. He said if the price of a facility to handle it on land costs a million, then in 1' of water the price goes to 10 million, and if in deep part of the gulf 100 million. So the costs are so high. It is taking banks time to adjust to the required amounts needed to finance in this new realm.

Did you know:
Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit came up with the idea that mercury boils around 300 degrees on this temperature scale. Work by others showed that water boils about 180 degrees above its freezing point. The Fahrenheit scale later was redefined to make the freezing-to-boiling interval exactly 180 degrees,[13] a convenient value as 180 is a highly composite number, meaning that it is evenly divisible into many fractions. It is because of the scale's redefinition that normal mean body temperature today is taken as 98.6 degrees,[17] whereas it was 96 degrees on Fahrenheit's original scale.[18]

The Fahrenheit scale was the primary temperature standard for climatic, industrial and medical purposes in English-speaking countries until the 1970s. The British Meteorological Office officially adopted "Centigrade" — the Celsius scale — as standard in 1963 but continued using Fahrenheit for public broadcasts into the 1980s. It is presently mostly replaced by the Celsius scale long used in the rest of the world, apart from the United States, where temperatures and weather reports are still broadcast in Fahrenheit
I still prefer Fahrenheit because each degree represents a smaller change...Just like I prefer PSI over bars for the same reason. Metric measurement with micrometers does not suffer this same problem. So I'm good with that. LOL.

Also had a career fair with about 20 or so recruiters. It is so nice to see the kids get dressed up in suits and nice dresses while trying to land a job or internship.

Pop, nice pics, nice welding.

Wonder if a Toe Biter hurts more than stepping on a hidden walnut shell barefooted??? Don, did you not know you were picking up a scorpion? I have so many here I have to go out with a black light and stomp them at times.

Wonder how PJS and RNG are doing?

We are in the process of getting my middle daughter declared disabled for SS and tax reasons. Hope we don't have to hire a lawyer. I've heard that SS has a very thick stack of paper to go through to get it done. While high functioning, she won't ever be able to handle a job in her current condition, but I'm praying for cures for autistic people.

Prayers for our team, our nation, the sick, and peace in the world.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 2.2C and it's presently 18.1C [heading to 21C], partly sunny & fairly calm.

Yesterday saw me dhobying the new clothes and the new dishes/plates.

Regarding the other tasks; well, having plans sounds like a good idea... until you have to put on pants and leave the house. :D

Today, I've got a 90th birthday party to attend at the Church Hall @1130. This evening will be spent going around the house advancing the clocks an hour for Sunday.

That's about it, take care all.

Kyle, wife did it herself for 3 of our kids without using a lawyer. It is a lot of forms to fill out with questions and they ask the same question many different ways to see if you are consistent in the answers, Then there were telephone interviews to go over the answers that you gave them on the forms. Some of these went on for hours basically to test your answers. Wife is good at remembering things and events so she does not get confused and is able to give clear answers and further she told them she had all day reserved for this and she told them she just made another pot of coffee so take all the time you want. After a while they got itchy to get off the phone
I think at the time the lawyers fees were limited to 4 months of SS payments
hope this helps

I do believe the giant waterbug with razor sharp teeth and its ability to inject a toxin would hurt more than a walnut shell. I did not know I was picking up a scorpion, been bitten before it's like a wasp sting.

Coffee has been poured. 54° with partly cloudy skies. Heading to 87° with a mix of sun and clouds. Got trimming done in side field/woods. Then did some maintainace on utility trailer wheel bearings. Has not been done in a few years. Hope to make sure I have all the filters and oil I need to change oil in tractors, mower and car. Then sit back and enjoy the October warmth.
