Well the good news is//// NO LEAKS.

i filled the tank and ran it for about 30 minutes. all is tight.

Took the time to wax the tractor and clean/armor all interior and clean all glass.

It looks brand new

Ok, just thought id post a 12 years later recap.

Patch still holding up. New gas tank still sitting on shelf.

While i had the hood off of tractor to replace glow plugs ( earlier this year) i thought about replacing the fuel tank. But patch still looked great. So i left it alone.

Yet the war against rodents continues to wage on... LOL

A good mouser is valuable around the farm…

On one visit there was a young cat that never was without a mouse…

Thanks for this report.
Question: photos appear to show two layers of stuff in the patch. Is that an artifact of the photo or did you use different products?
My DK45S fuel tank leaks where the hold-down strap kinked the top right corner of the tank (i.e. strap was over-torqued, almost certainly at the factory). I too bought a new tank and procrastinated installing it. I only half-fill it now.
Therefore, I'm very interested in your experience and the specific JB product that did the job.
In my case, I have six yard cats so no rodent problems. There was a possum that spent the winter on the power-steering box of my 1982 300SD but he didn't eat anything and only disconnected a few vacuum lines.
