Good morning!!!!

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 4.3C and it's presently 12.6C, mostly cloudy & fairly calm.

It took me quite a while to figure out why so many, post 1920's, rural homes/farm structures were built so close to the main road/highway.

The answer is power poles. If your building was farther away from the power 'line' that it required your own pole(s) to reach you, then you were responsible for the cost and maintenance of 'your' pole(s).

My house is set back from the road (built 1993) as the power line is buried. If I needed power poles, I would still be required to be responsible for them.

Once again, that's about it, take care all.
Many older houses and barns are set close to the road and many are separated by the road was the original path went between them as a cart track. Most people back then would not have a useless yard it would be grazed.
As time went on and money and time became available to waste the front yards came into being. Many of the old paths were modified as the "new" roads came into existence as often there would not be enough room to follow the old paths.

Good morning TBN!!!
Wonderful 62 this morning going to 80. May be wet at times. Wet and drizzly all day yesterday but got less then 1/4 "

Spent most of my energy welding a patch on a too thin construction on the scrape blade I bought. Pleased with the results.
Otherwise spent the day puttering in the garage and entertaining the dog. Or the dog entertained me. Not sure which :)

Time for a second cup.
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

would not have a useless yard
not when that land was what you depended upon to feed you
very different priorities than today

it was a fine tomato morning, bringing up my two day
to include a zucchini going to my neighbor, and most of these tomatoes
going to two other neighbors.
I got the nicest hand written almost calligraphic note from one neighbor embroidered
in red tomatoes saying thank you. Still on my fridge door.

G' Morning! lower 70's going to high 90's....uhgh. Like Spike said 2 more months, but I do remember sweating a lot while trick or treating as a kid.
So, maybe 3 months.

BEF, the next door neighbors' place is for sell. Comes with plenty of hot summers. :) and mild winters.

M7040, you sure have a lot of nice tools. Hope your wifey is feeling ok today.

Y'all have a blessed day, you hear?

Morning all, 74 going to 83 and sunny.
Spent a few hours with the trimmer and brush cutter yesterday getting to some of the stiltgrass and autumn olive.
Then to peddlars village for peach fest and dog walk. Jammed with people.
The to dinner in town at a sushi place that was really good. Town was packed, but as we drove in someone left right in front of us, easy parking on a Saturday night!

PJS, sorry to hear, heal up quick, welcome back.

Today, more work on the stiltgrass and maybe plant spaghetti squash and spinach. Got a few more tomatoes.

Be well,
I now have many thousands of square feet of stiltgrass, need to finish cleaning up the rocks and wood chunks so I can mow this. All interspersed with autumn olive and other woody bushes.

After, hundreds of feet done, will be spraying more today vs. using the trimmer and brushcutter.

The deer love the banquet I cut for them,

Lots of old cars in town, this one caught my eye.

57 sweet degrees...going to 80.

Condolences ArlyA.

Nice work, BEF.

I don't understand why it takes me so long to lube my zero turn...I am careful and clean up the excess, but 3 hours, plus prep time? 19 zerks, and 8 spots to oil...it's a real workout crawling under, over and squeezing into so many tight spots. I started late since the grass was so wet, and I do it in the yard, therefore the dew was falling by the time I finished, so didn't get a chance to mow to enjoy the new grease. :)

My wife has been up at our grandaughter's house, babysitting and having a great time. My son and his wife went to stay in Lexington for a concert Friday night, and then to climb McAfee Knob yesterday. His first time. They sent some great pix.

Another "National Day"...at least this time it makes sense...National Watermelon Day!
3hrs seems like a heck of a job.
I have found a long extension hose to speed things up a lot here, as does some version of a locking fitting. The standard "LocknLube" fitting doesn't fit into a couple of key spots on my tractor, so I use one from Anzo which is smaller. For truly awkward fittings, there is always the option of using a zerk extension to get the grease point out to something that works better for you. I wouldn't overlook swapping some grease fittings for angled or right angle versions.

I recently got tired of the "rub your tummy/pat your head" routine of not cross threading the full grease steel tube into my soft aluminum pneumatic grease guns and switched to a battery powered grease gun, that is designed not to cross thread and plus it has a nice priming system. I've got two joints that routinely take a fair bit of grease, and hand pumping is just a bear on my hands.

good morning, 58 going to 80 another great day

Worked on cleaning up the welding table top from rust and residuals using rotating drum tool and 8 inch angle grinder with sanding disks but still not happy with it. Need to look into more aggressive sanding disks

Plan to do some string trimmer work today

I like the belt sander idea, but I do a lot of smaller work.
If you want to use disks, have you tried the 3M Xtract cubitron net disks?

Good Morning
65° when I woke up, sunny and going to stay that way with a high of 80°.

Yesterday kept me moving all day. Started with a little work on the dock, really it’s going to be a deck over the pond, as there is rarely a bit in it. Maybe a bit of a fishing pier.

Next up was grab a big cooler and fill it with ice to take over to the RC club for the picnic. Came back home and got a few more things done before packing up some planes and heading to the picnic.

Picnic was fun, lots of food and some fun events, (none of which I won).
Got home in time to pack up to go to the next party.

That one was fun as well, lots of good music, it wrapped up pretty early, even after packing up my gear and helping others pack up, I was home by 9:30.

So far, today looks like an open book. Wife is at a farmers market, Zoe and I are just hanging out for now.

1960 Chevy?

got the parts cut and installed in the rv, not close enough to avoid some wood putty which is
the final step for the joint. Looks better already.
got lucky with the cutting, had a freud fine blade on chop saw and it left a very smooth edge
