Also cell phones should be required to NOT receive calls or texts when a vehicle is moving above a walking pace
So if I'm riding in the passenger seat I shouldn't be able to make calls?

and finally grandpa or grandma or anyone for that matter, driving a mega RV should have to pass a driving test to prove they can handle it
+1. (y)
In addition, just because you passed your test in a pickup doesn't mean that you are qualified to hook onto a 12,000 lb trailer and go with it.

Back before cell phone and dash tv. While on my way to work I used to pass a man on I-81 that was driving along 50 MPH reading his newspaper. Amazing people think they can do anything while driving.

My cousin used to do that while driving down the interstate.

I had just bought my first new truck; a 1984 Ranger and was driving down the highway when I saw a car coming up behind me fast. I kept waiting for it to change lanes but it kept getting closer and closer so I laid on the horn in desperation.
At the very last minute it pulled out and as it went flying by I could see the driver, still pawing through her purse while occasionally glancing at the road.

This just happened in my area on Wednesday and left the interstate closed in one direction for over 24 hours

And that same day I had to dodge 3 drivers that about hit me head on because they were on the wrong side of the road. And I wan't even 10 miles from home at that point. And another 10 miles down the road had a car pass me and 2 other vehicles in a no passing zone.
I see it every day. It is becoming very dangerous.

Well many are not going to like this answer but about 240 million out of about 320 million took the clot shot and one of the hundreds of side affects are brain fog.. Like they say hate the message not the messenger

yes. I believe cell phones and texting are a big cause of accidents today. I see on the news more & more drivers running into houses. my wife has been into 3 accidents while sitting at a red light waiting for the green to go and got plowed in the back 3 times in 1.5 yrs. the last one really hit hard and totaled out our 2011 malibu. it was in mint condition. it pushed our car into the one in front of us. then she hauled butt. hit & run. my insurance co had to pay. a little over $8k. it even wrinkled in the rear floor boards on both sides. the other 2 were hit in the back also at a red light. it took out the rear bumper each time. we collected for the damage and I made the repairs myself by replacing the rear bumper with a used one's of the same color on a Sebring we had. in the 90's when still in the work force I was on break and looking at the traffic in the morning go by and seen 2 women in different cars putting on their make up as they were driving, and a guy reading the news paper while driving. these people on the roads today are nuts.

ANY big truck or truck and trailer combo has to be passed
Hauling my horse trailer at 45 mph in a 45 zone on a regular two-lane road without safe passing areas, suddenly there's someone passing me through an S curve where you cannot even see oncoming traffic. No bad results, fortunately.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for EVERYBODY to take the CDL course. Most would not pass the exam, but it might leave them with a better understanding of applied physics. Oh darn! Forget that idea. The course and the exam are done in English. Not feasible. Y a-t-il des conducteurs canadiens titulaires d'un permis de conduire commercial (CDL) qui ne parlent que le français ? I sure hope not. Somewhere in NH or Maine, years ago, there were traffic signs in French. The sole effect, from what I remember, was to confuse us Anglophones who were trying to read the stuff.

Bringing us back to the subject of tractors -- When I hauled an old tractor home on a questionable flatbed trailer I stuck to back roads as much as possible, didn't go over 25 or 30. Pulled off the road on the one occasion when I'd attracted a parade of cars behind me. I also (unlike some) do not believe that booze or weed improves my driving.
