84F and sunny @ 12:00, calling for a high temp of 85F. DP 63F, HU 51%, "feels like" temp 88F. Clouds will be increasing this afternoon with 15% chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm.

Got all the newly planted winter squash and pumpkins well-watered and fed with that Schultz's tomato food.

Got string line run and the north fence line and post locations marked out with marking paint.

A 66' x 66' enclosed area looks like it will result in about another 6' of width (west to east) to the garden on the east side. Still need to run the tape and see what it looks like on a north to south basis ...

Gate on the north fence line ended up in a decent spot. Not perfectly lined up with the arched trellis but close enough that I can maneuver the Kubota to get it in and steer into it if need be.

Steak, baked potatoes, and asparagus all turned out great ... despite being out of Montreal Steak Seasoning. Baked potatoes were huge, couldn't eat all of my potato and steak ... so have some leftover for today.

Forgot to refuel the Cub after I unloaded the gas can from The Woman's car yesterday so that's on the agenda first thing.

Then start the mowing down here around the house.

After I get that done I may go ahead and run the string line for the fence line/post locations on the east perimeter. Will use the 3, 4, 5 method to get the right angle and the vector.

Have one post location for the north H brace (on the northwest corner post) that I need to check to make sure it is not going to hit the main sewage line going from the house to the first septic tank.

Had some nipping on a few cukes and tomatoes the other night so we re-positioned a couple of remesh panels to block entry into the garden from the north and rehung the deer netting on the south perimeter as the last thing yesterday.

Today I will get the stink juice sprayer cleaned out and hose everything down as a further deterrent.

Need to haul the last of the branches from that ash tree up the brush pile.

Hopper feeder needs refilled so that's on the list as well.

Day lilies have started to bloom.

Hope everyone is having a decent Thursday.

Florida just passed a superspeeder law just in time for this holiday weekend.
if you are caught doing over 100mph, or 50 over, they can now arrest you and lock you up.
For up to a month apparently.
not sure why anyone needs to go 100 mph.
if you are, you certainly know you are doing something very illegal.
And stupid.

out West I had folks going by me at 85 to 90. No one was going 100 mph, no superspeeders.
must be something about Florida

apparently 5 minutes into July 1 they caught a guy doing 102 in a 70.
all those hellcats out there make this really easy

been working on my rv trip to Lancaster and it's gotten more interesting.
my friends have booked me on a Friday July 11 noon boat ride on the Susquehanna which should be marvelous.
not very large boats but getting out on the water, short of a thunderstorm, should be fun.

unfortunately this is on Friday, my first day there, when we also have dinner in Lancaster planned at 6pm.
So..I drive past my campground heading West, park in the Lancaster Walmart parking lot, they meet me and take me off to
the river cruise. When done, then I check in. And then we go to dinner downtown. Sounds like a long day to me but why not.
have to chuckle at the local names, those Amish farmers definitely believed in promoting having more kids. Growing the farm's future
work force.

little over 2 hours West of here, always a nice drive once off the PA turnpike and onto 202/30
but driving past Dutch wonderland is just one huge backup of slow moving traffic
you can see by the traffic colors it's clogged up now

83F and partly cloudy @ 16:15 with a decent breeze. Looks like clouds may be on the increase …

Cub refueled.

Another 6 tomato plants moved to the shelves around back and watered/fertilized. Probably still a good dozen on the shelves back there.

Mowing down here around the house completed.

Branches that were on the Kubota loader taken up and dumped, along with a few more that were in the planting around the maple at the northeast corner.

Hooked up hay wagon after that and moved it from behind the van.

Then ran down to DG for a bag of charcoal.

Stopped by garden center on way back and picked up a flat of plants … all peppers except for 9 eggplants.

Now time to head around back and see what trouble I can get into.

Good (Friday) morning. Overnight Low of 0.9C and it's presently 10.7C, clear & calm.
No plans for today...

Enjoy refining you do nothing skills.
And, as typically happens, something came up. Namely my wonderful 3-wheeled wheelbarrow broke. The solid rear axel was spot welded to the tubular 'legs' and time + rust took their toll. I've had it for 12 years and, of course, it and nothing like it is made anymore.

So, it was over to a local welding/fabricator shop to have it repaired. Perhaps next week.

I then headed over to the hardware store & bought a conventional wheelbarrow to tide me (and the 'Mad Agisting Horse Woman' + Daughter) over. They're feeding out some older squares at this time; although using a hand-truck would be a better option for getting the squares out to the paddock.

;) No plans for today...

That's about it, take care all.

Surprise, surprise, surprise! as Gomer Pyle would say.
We had rain today 3/4" enough to not water the yard for 3 days and not have to top off the pool.
I bet the firefighters are happy going wet into this July 4th weekend.

The Ryobi leaf blower vac has been in the shop for 2 months so they say they will sending me another. This has been the year for warranty breakdowns. They should at least build enough quality to last through the warranty period. So far warranty claims on - pool pump, pool floor robot, pool surface robot, 2 EGO batteries and the leaf blower.

Poured firsty cup of coffee. 58° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 86° with possibility of thunderstorms in late afternoon. Got grass cut around building. yesterday. Then did a trip out in field next to my house chopped up the thistles getting ready to go to seed. Spent rest of the day giving my foot the rest it needs. Today is the 4th July parade in my neighbors Duce and A Half truck.

Morning all!
56 going to a nice sunny 75.
Driveway didn't get done with all the threat of rain. Hopefully Monday.
Been having a frequent visitor to the hummingbird feeder.
IMG_1966.jpg

He's so loud squawking out there he keeps setting off our cameras!
Quite a few jobs done at the apartment house. Need to cut out a dead bush still and couldn't fix the fence. I swear the guy built it with every piece of crap he could find on the side of the road! Pieces of broken steel pipe mixed with plastic pipe. Fencing draped over in spots or tied with twine! I told the wife to start looking for replacement company.
Another project completed in the shop. Will be taking time off for a bit to enjoy the summer. Desert iron wood hollow form. Beautiful colors in this piece! 1 1/8 hole with 1/8 thick walls. Was a real challenge as this is pretty hard wood to work with.

65.8F and clear @ 06:15, WU calling for abundant sunshine and a high of 88F.

Was about to check WU for temp here and then remembered we now have an outdoor thermometer ... lol ...

Drinking cold, leftover coffee from yesterday ... and it is tasting good.

The "trouble" I got into yesterday afternoon was getting the string run and the line and post locations marked for the eastern perimeter of the garden fence.

Worked out pretty well ... south point on the eastern line ended up just about where the end of the garden is ... so not much change there.

Got almost the entire area inside the lines sprayed with glyphosate (2 gallons) after I got them marked.

East side:

IMG_3731 copy.jpg

North side:

IMG_3728 copy.jpg

Decided I would go ahead and put 6' gates on all four sides, rather than just on the north and south.

Last night ended up being Taco Thursday with The Woman doing the honors. They were very tasty, I had 2 with some refrieds before heading back out to tidy up a few things and shut it down.

Had 2 more around 23:00 (with some more refrieds) after sitting outside in the cool evening air for a bit.

Deer was over by the apple tree when I went out, apparently did not like having me out there ... started hissing. Was probably the mama doe with her 2 fawns in tow.

After I ate (again) I headed out to the garage and mixed up anther 6 gallons of glyphosate premix and refilled both sprayers.

No big plans for today ... might go out for dinner later ... or maybe just grill up some hotdogs.

Priority for this morning will be to start getting the peppers planted while I have shade in that area.

Beyond that, just see what else comes up.

Hubbard Blue, Hubbard Golden's, and Guatemalan Blue really liking having their feet in the dirt:

Hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July !

Wish this was a bad joke.
Young lady I dated in high school died the other day.
Parents didn't like me taking her out because I was almost 4 years older.
We had to do a lot of sneaking out.
I haven't seen her in 3o+ years to even say hello but I remember the good times and the steamy nights well.
Hits real close to home.
Cool morning of 60F going up to 80ish.
Clear sky, high UV.
Happy 4th of July Mexericans. Hopefully you're reminded of the great freedoms you have and resist losing them.
Too many gave their lives to get you where you were/are.
