I wouldn't even come close to fitting any clothes of mine from the 70s!!

I leave the key in my mower all the time. Not something anyone's going to steal, and it keeps the mason bees from laying eggs in the keyhole and filling it with mud.

The key has never been out of the keyhole on my mower but it is always parked in a locked barn unless in use.

YKYAO when you forget how to tie a neck tie. Wore one every day for 35 years, but I think I've only worn one once in the last 9 years. I woke up in the middle of the night wondering if I could still tie one.

Weddings and funerals get a necktie. I've worn two to job interviews... once in 1987, and another in 2017.

Oh, I also wore a necktie to my first day at work in 1987 at my last job.... the guys were very nice and told me to ditch it.

We were expecting the new CEO of the then 50,000 employee company to visit as he wanted to visit every site in his first year.

I came to work with a blazer and tie and had many compliments until Administrator saw me and sent me home to changed into work clothes…

I've dropped to only funerals and maybe weddings, my most common tie is a String tie with a Bolo tie clasp.
Back in the early 70's while in the Marines I could tie a tie quite well.
Now thanks to the internet and utube I still can when necessary.

Funerals Dad carried a clip on tie & tweezers in his glove box.
Tweezers to pluck out a nose hair so his eyes were watering for the funeral.

My son has to wear a tie to school everyday, and until this year, I had to help him with that. So, it was a nice refresher for me. Not that I ever forgot, but I had definitely gotten a little rusty.

Now he's 15, and doing it himself... he's probably better at it than me, today. But kids wear their tie knots relatively loose today, not the tight knots we tied in the 1980's and 90's.

This is why I moved my henhouse. Free range chickens, lawns and barefeet were a poor combination.

I never understood the point in having chickens. One, they are filthy, two they are very hands on to maintain and coyotes love to eat them and 3, chickens carry histoplasmosis which I have from helping to clean my grandparents copp and once tou get it, there is no cure.

We get our eggs from the grocery, much easier, I like frieg eggs. I don't like chickens in general.

I’ve had chickens the last ten years, mostly because my son was interested in getting them, and I figured it’d be fun. And it was for awhile. They’re actually entertaining outdoor companions, as much as any other pet.

But with the startup costs and feed, I don’t think they’ll ever save us any real money, so I don’t really understand people who do it for the sake of cost alone.

I was ready to be done with them two years ago, when our flock had whittled down to one lonely chicken, but the rest of the family wanted to reboot the flock with fresh birds, so I guess I’m signed up for a few more years. I don’t mind.

My parents had chickens until I was in my 30s.
True free range.
I hated the things.
Poop everywhere and the more you were dressed up or in a rush to go somewhere the more likely you were to step in some.
Any worked ground was an ideal place for them to dig up for dust baths.
This included my mother's flower beds and veggie garden.
Where the farm orchard wasn't far from the house and nicely worked up, they weren't interested.
Chickens attract mice and rats. Doesn't matter how clean you keep the area.
And I hated slaughtering them.
Each Fall we'd do 40-50 at a time.
The smell of wet feathers is still in my nose. And then torching off the little quills and feathers. Ugh!
To this day I have a tough time eating chicken.
Oh! The Bast-rd things would ruin my tomatoes. I used to grow tomatoes as a side hustle as a kid. I'd have a trailer load of 100+ large baskets backed into the barn for sorting and packing
They had plenty seconds thrown out for their consumption. No, that wasn't good enough.
As soon as you turned your head they'd jump on the trailer and usually destroy the best ones.
I hates chickens to pieces.

I let mine free range for all of a week, thinking they’d be safe as long as I or family were near. One was attacked by one of our countless hawks when I was no more than 30 feet away, and they destroyed our flower gardens. They’ve been kept in a coop and run, ever since.

We have a half dozen fox go right past that coop every day, and constant hawk traffic. No chicken would be safe free-ranging in this yard.

I don't think I've worn a tie in 40-odd years, and have no intentions of wearing one ever again. I will dress presentably if the need arises, but it won't include a tie.

We had them for a while, wife's idea. Strictly pets. Well eggs too, for her...I neither like them, nor do they agree with me.
5030 makes a good point. Chickens are magnets for every sort of predator imaginable, a strong coop is a must.
I will say that when we had them ticks were not an issue.

There's a girl down the road who raises them partly as a 4H project, if we want eggs we get them from her.

grew up on a farm that had about 300 chickens at any one time, sold eggs to our regular customers. No chicken for me ever, don't eat eggs either. Decided in my early years if I ever got away from them, I was done with em. Haven't eaten eggs or chicken in 50 years.

It's funny how people who grew up with chickens don't want anything to do with them, yet many enjoy raising them as an expensive hobby. I didn't buy meat for 10 years. While the price of grain more than offset any savings they were better to eat.
I go into the grocery store now, pick up a package of meat, look at the price and set it back down.

My first job off the farm at 15 was at a chicken plant. Did pretty much every job there. Have a pretty good scar on left thumb from the razor sharp knifes we used. I don't think I have a problem with eating chicken (or eggs), tastes just like froglegs.
