Good Morning to All who Celebrate! 65° going to a high of 81° Storm clouds to roll in this afternoon and then rain for the rest of the week.

This weekend has been...Eventful.

Saturday morning, up early. Mom collars me halfway through a bowl of cereal. "Let's go rent that stump grinder and get it done." Dad had been chasing turkeys since Thursday. It being mother's day weekend and the fact that she feeds me, I wasn't in a strong position to say no. Get dressed, head outside, put key in truck...click.

No biggie, Mom's Audi is here, we can jump it. We quickly find, due to ze Germans infinite mechanical wisdom, that the batteries (two 12v in series) have been moved to the trunk of the car. Thanks to the unclear wording of the manual, there is a jump point somewhere under the hood, but where remains a mystery.

While my mother was doing her best to decipher the enigma manual, I had pulled the Kubota out and found that the battery was 12v. So:

Gave the tractor some RPMs and Houston we have Ignition! By this time, it's roughly 10:30. Rental place closes at 2, remember that because it will be important later. So now we have a side quest: replace my 12 year old battery.

So run to the AutoZone, Shell out 240 bucks for a battery. As I had never replaced a battery before, get the battery replaced by the most...rotund woman I had ever seen. Now that I know it's just three nuts and a rachet extender, I'll be able to do it next time. By the time that hoopla ends, it's 1pm on the nose. Of course, I then proceed to get behind the oldest and slowest woman ever. I don't think she broke 25mph the entire time I was behind her. Did I mention the college nearby was graduating that same weekend too? Because it was.

We make the rental place at 1:45pm. There's one final hurdle to cross: The tie-down straps I had purchased aren't threaded in. 🙃

For such a circus getting the thing here, running it was a snap. Demolished the stump down far below grade, patched up the last few stumps that had a few roots left and then that was that. Spent the rest of the weekend shuttling tanbark around with the tractor, Mount Tanbark is certainly smaller now. Dad decided to spare the dead tree for more of a privacy screen, so be it.

Here's hoping this week is slower than my weekend. But if this morning is any indicator, it won't be. Time will tell.

Goals for this week: Make sure nothing needs mowed before the storm, schedule truck for inspection, Survive work week.

Y'all stay safe out there and Be well!
Prayers for those ailing and recovering!
The battery posts are marked under the hood.
Big red (+) cover and near it an open post.

My Audi battery is in the back, Jeep battery under the seat, BMW battery in the back. So it's pretty common now.

Oh trust me, I looked, we looked.

Later, after all was said and done, it was found under a piece of firewall protection and then under another piece of plastic, but I believe she said it wasn't red or there wasn't anything noting that the jump point was there.

There was a large nut marked - but we searched and searched and couldn't find the positive terminal.

68°F and .05 inches rain

A good start mowing the Laupahoehoe end working the guinea grass triangle. Getting marginally better with each iteration. Will continue that end today.

Need to make a po run, ship a box of stuff to Dave in Canada.

Happy Hour in town at the Golf course later

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I am back from the garage $562.97 poorer, but the A/C works. Oil (5W30 semi synthetic)& filter, Winter tires off and stored, good for next winter, too. Summers on.
The local cops (OPP){Old Peoples Police} [Ontario Provincial Police] have a new unmarked cruiser. A Dodge Charger, I spotted him today after he gave someone a speed award.
Tractor got picked up today at 10:30.

Always thinking several projects ahead. One of them is getting the track for the barn door smooth after I forgot to lower the boom on the excavator and flattened it.
I have worked on it with pry bars and heat but it will not get to where it needs to be that way is what I am concluding

Next approach is to splice a piece of 2.5 inch diameter track in with two couplings.
How to cut it in place? The 4.5 inch angle grinder does not reach far enough into the pipe. Maybe cut pie shaped pieces out so it can reach in further for the cut? Maybe sawsall with metal cutting blade. Flame cutting it with oxygen/acc?

Fritz,

Just use a larger cut off wheel on the grinder.

I frequently run a 7” zip disc on my 4 1/2” grinder.

Just be mindful that the larger wheels are usually rated for less speed.

I used to use a HF speed control before I got the Masterforce variable speed grinder from Menards.

Been busy day got everything done I wanted but took extra time doing...2 1/2 hours trimming almost 3 hours mowing front field and it was soggy didn't get stuck :)
No question soon my back pockets will be holding down the chair feet up enjoy smooth cigar while the kittens and I wait for passing critters and stars.

Enjoy your evening all.

long, tiring but ultimately successful day.
dumped the Ford expedition as it squealed and clanked its way into Doylestown.
went to look at a used Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and it was ok, white with black interior but then my eye
caught on another car there that had just come in. Husband and wife had matching Lexus GX460 suvs and came in and
replaced them with matching Wagoneers. A dark blue one and a white one. I took the dark blue of course.
ran smoothly and quietly, 15 mpg I'm sure, but right now reliability is very high on my priority list and this model is supposed to be
one of the most reliable out there with a very understressed V8 that doesn't make a lot of power but will likely
run forever. Has 87k miles and I have a bumper to bumper 3 year warranty with it.
it's an old person's car but I have to get realistic...
plus it will tow 6500 pounds, though I do need to get a hitch installed.

tomorrow is reserved for bringing the motorhome home and getting that set up. No bites on that in weeks.

forecast is rain for two days.
am hoping by end of next rain the lawn in front, the part that got
reseeded will fill in better. Two days of rain should make everything happy.
currently looks like the before in the hair ads...pretty thin.

the moon the last few nights has been wonderfully bright
have a large high window in my bathroom and the moon just sets up there and shines
down.
sit on the throne and ponder the moon, what could be better?...
with your bidet dialed in at just the right temperature
life is good
