This particular trip, from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and into the Rockies, was a smidgen over the 39,000 lb. CGVWR. As usual, the Ram 3500 pulled it off without any issues.View attachment 3318469

My toy hauler may not weigh a lot, but does put close to 5,000 on the drive axle. Which is rated for almost 10,000 lbs.

Basically, there are indeed things a Toyota can't do, but a Ram can. And so far mine has asked for nothing but fuel, plus oil and tire changes.
So when you hauled that Unimog, did anyone mention what they used it for?

I'd like that Unimog! (y)

I think it will swing to either side if you boom all the way up.

Tunnel walls? Most of them are hydro blasted tho.

Puzzling
Yep, it's a tunnel washer. Or was.

I bought it, for cheap, as it had the working gears (2,000:1), front and rear PTOs and hydraulics. The washing apparatus itself is a lot like a backhoe, except that it has a break-away feature halfway on the dipper.

Thought about swapping the brush for a flail mower to use along the ditches. That wouldn't have worked out well since it would've been a two person job, and the hydraulics for it are operated by switches instead of levers.

Would've been great for keeping a solar farm clean, but we don't have any around here.

Removed the tunnel washer stuff, was then offered more than twice what I had paid for the Unimog, mostly for the working gear equipped transmission. So, if somebody wants a free tunnel washer setup, come and get it.

Although, I'd like the keep the 800 something lb. ballast weight that could be moved laterally to help compensate for the sideloads. And notice that the rear suspension can be locked out.

Yeah, I saw the suspension set up. That's what lead ,e to believe I was right about it rotating off to the side.

Cool machine. Sounds like it made you money.

Tunnel washer! :ROFLMAO:

Too many poor jokes there. :p

The only place I've seen tunnels are near Detroit to get to Canada and Pittsburgh.

At the height of our horse hauling years we logged 200k miles a yr. I remember a '04 dodge cummings going through a fuel rail every 30k miles. Dodge blamed it on low sulfur fuel.
