The Cooperative Extension Service has a huge catalog of plans for farm buildings, and equipment. Want to build a hen house, they have plans. Want a tractor shed, they have plans.

The Universities used to have Ag Engineering students do the plans as senior design projects.

Not all of the Extension service offices have plans. But do an online search for: "Cooperative Extension Service Building Plans" and many of the universities pop up.

North Dakota State, University of Arkansas, Louisiana State University, etc. all have pretty extensive libraries

Yes, and these are very much overkill. If you build to the plans expect the cost to be almost double. I have several of those plans in PDF. I review them for gleaning the practical items of interest.

Now, if you lived in earthquake country, then those plans will hold up well.

Maverick, in actually, from an engineering standpoint, they are generally underkill, having been designed before the building codes came into effect. That said many buildings built from them are still standing and doing fine. Just depends on the level of owner maintenance.

And in general, buildings of less than 200-sf don't require building permits.
