Could have gotten clutch for 74.00 or clutch, pressure plate, thrush bearing and bearing for 144.00

You don't know the quality of either sets of parts compared to the other ones. If the extra $50 paid for better parts that fit better, it was well worth it, especially being that you need to split the tractor.

Messicks!! The air filters I buy for my Mahindra, I purchased through Messicks. Half the cost of the "official" Mahindra dealer part for the exact same air filter.

I've been using Messicks for minor parts and fluids since 2009. At first I was impressed by their shipping speed. Then they got me with their knowledge. I called up for some part, (forget exactly what) for my B7610. After clarifying what part, the cost, shipping etc. the salesperson suggested a slightly different part at about 25% the cost.
Worked great.
Plus they provide a lot of help on the forum and have some good educational videos.

All I can say is always price around before you pull the trigger on anything you're buying, unless you have to have it now.

Not bad advice, excepting cases where you have to split the tractor to swap the parts. When the job is more labor than parts, my time being valuable, I would be calling my OEM or Messick’s and asking for the best quality option. Price be damned.

OP: you are going to split a tractor & replace the clutch. why are you obsessing about after market parts when OEM is the only way i'd consider for the big job? in a few months, you'll forget about the savings you could have made on parts that are unproven vs OEM. enjoy what you have, good luck on repair

Never go cheap on a clutch. It’s something you don’t want to do twice.

Messicks is a convenience, one spot with a lot of parts. Like a gas station sundry shop. You pay more for the convenience. Did I get screwed if I buy milk at the gas station, yeah but that is on me!

Do I get on the web and complain about the price of milk at the gas station, no.

Nothing wrong with finding the best price on something you want/need as long as it's apples to apples. Take Amazon for example, they are no longer the best deal out there. They got people hooked on them, by offering the best price for years. Now, I often find less expensive prices on the same product elsewhere.

True, but Amazon is often the only convenient choice to purchase things. Stores no longer stock much inventory and it’s hard to find things anymore. Then they tell you they can order it for you. And they will call you in 2 weeks when the item arrives. At that point I tell them to forget it and order on Amazon with 2-3 days delivery. I did this yesterday after trying to buy an old style electric coffee percolator. After visiting 3 stores and being told they have to order that item, I went home and ordered one on Amazon. Delivery expected on Monday.

Also a good thing on Amazon, you can upload your farm tax exempt certificate. In my case it is 6% saving on parts if they are available, also tools.

And i never buy from Messicks, i can easily find THE SAME item at least 20% cheaper if not more, It is my experience with them. Tried not many but at least 3-4 times with same results.

Write it off to sunk costs and don't worry about it. it's not worth it.

I never even look at Messicks anymore, because I can always find it cheaper. Admittedly, I use Amazon a lot, not that I buy much. They make it too easy. There is value in what they offer, but I still look elsewhere, and buy if it beats the Amazon value.
