RNG, "Caught the mail man on the doorbell camera down south dropping off a package. The mail is supposed to be held until Monday, but I guess somehow he didn't get the message."
Time to rip the postmaster a new one when you get back down there, eh?

Our cordless irons make good door stops. Other than that....gosh...no one ever ironed in our house.
When we moved to Hawaii, Sophie was adamant the iron and ironing board won’t make the trip. For years she dutifully started and ironed my military uniforms. When doing a project a few years back I had to buy a cheap iron at Walmart for some banding.

Afternoon all; finished the snow work about 12:30 this afternoon, an hour with shovel and broom then 3 hours with the tractor, the last hour was with the bucket scrapping down to dirt in many spots.
Getting going, ----------------------------------------------almost done up around the house

31°F with light rain and fog this morning, got up to 41° here today.

Ran a bunch of errands for The Wife this morning, which found me in Fairview Heights, THE shopping mecca of the Illinois side of the STL area. And boy was it crazy today. I was glad to finally get done and get back to my regularly scheduled peaceful life. Made some delicious tacos for dinner. Yummy.

Youngest stepson had yet another surgery on his leg Thursday. This was number 8; 7 on his leg, and 1 on his hand. This one shortened a screw holding his tibia and fibula together, which was protruding enough to cause discomfort in his prosthetic. They also removed a spur that had formed, and rounded the bottom of the tibia where it was cut. They kept him overnight, then released him Friday morning. He had a great conversation with his employer earlier in the week. They are still holding his job and seniority until he can return. Gotta love that.

Welcome to the GM thread, pearson_n.

Your NC farm experience was enjoyable to read and watch, Drew.

Good evening, gents.
Glad to hear stepson will keep a job. Hope his surgery will provide relief. I can't imagine what all he's been through recuperating.

Kyle, prayers that your mother gets the best care. I had good help deciding what care to get for my mother. 2 of my mother’s sisters and my sister helped me make the decisions. We found a home to put her that was very nice. But not fancy. The care she received there was way above what we excepted. We already had a daily caregiver at her house. But she kept having dementia attacks. That could not be controlled at her home. She spent little over 3 years at care center there before she passed. This type of care center is in every community. Sometimes you need help from local social services to find them. The plan you have at her home may be the best for now. Prayers for her, you and others helping with care.
Ron, thank you for the thoughtful advice. Glad you had a "team" to help and found a place to give her good care.

Thank you popgadget.

My mom is trying to be as small a problem as possible. I can tell she appreciates any attention she gets now more.

Our 2 chickens have started laying eggs again. I'll estimate they lay an egg about every other or every 3rd day. They are not young.

Good Evening to the GM thread!

We have 63°F here thing afternoon with cloudy skies so it feels cooler than it is. Good nap weather!

Two_bit fox won't chase squirrels if easier prey about. Hope Austin went well.
I think the fox has got used to making the rounds to the neighborhood buffet. I don't feed it but some neighbors do. I do have a tub of water I try to keep clean for animals.

Yes. The trip to Austin was worth it. Here are the high spots of the last week. A friend from East Texas was also in town that day and called me so we met up at the Texas Chili Parlor for gumbo and caught up on a lot of current events. The last 7 days have been fantastic for me.

Had great responses on some suggestions on issues I've submitted and looks like might get some improvements implemented. Attended a gathering in West Austin at a fancy golf course club house with a lot of elected officials in attendance all the way from South Texas to Dallas. That was a lot of fun. Everyone was very enthuastiac about the future of our country and the new direction.

Friday I attended a celebration for another friend and ran into about 6 other mutual friends I had not seen in awhile. Got to talk to one that had met about 6 years ago during some election work in conjunction with Americans For Prosperity when she was first elected. Had a very good visit with her and she said our conversation had been very uplifting and beneficial. That reminded me of how electeds get so many negative complaints that they just need some encouragment sometime. Had a issue come up on a piece of legislation filed two sessions ago where language was somehow ommitted but just now came to light, at least to us. Surprisingly, I was able to reach the CoS for a Member on the first call and ran over to the office and got one of the best experts on that particular subect on the phone and drafted a fix for it.

Friday evening I got a text to call an acquaintence regarding a project I had been involved with but had gotten stalled and I could not get it off high center. We talked for about two hours and he called back last night and walked me through some research he did and some info he had found which if it holds will be a strategic breakthrough and help me tremendously.

So, I've been kicking back today and getting mentally geared up for another trip to Austin Monday/Tues and then Wed I'll be back home attending a board meeting for a local board I volunteer on. Then my two partners and I will be back in Austin Thursday for a few more meetings that hold promise.

Hope everyone has a great evening and if you watch the Superbowl I hope you enjoy the game. I lost interest and don't even watch it for the commercials anymore.

Prayers for our Nation.
